Diamond price per carat is USD 2689 based on the rappaport...

Price per carat varies greatly for different sizes n quality.. u need to look at the price per carat specific to the ones you are comparing..

Comparing same quality, JP prices are still much cheaper compared to other chain stores that sell their Ideal cut diamonds. Like Lazare, Hearts on Fire, etc are their Ideal diamonds that cost much more than JP super ideal. Plus these stores don't provide all the scopes to confirm the quality.

But if you compare JP diamonds with other normal diamonds that are not Ideal cuts, of course inferior cuts will be cheaper. It's like saying a Nike watch is cheaper than a Rolex.
But you don't have to pay a Rolex price :D

Hi all

I am not very familiar with diamonds. I have decided to propose to my gf. Recommended by friends, I went to Jannpaul afew days back. I was quoted $4.3k for a super ideal (I suppose super ideal means the typical diamond which is in round shape) with specs,0.56 carat,G,VS1. Ring setting with side diamond is another $1.2k. Is the price reasonable?

Hope you guys with more knowledge on diamonds can give me some advise. Thanks ! Apologies for being such a noob here. :s22:

Sorry ppl can anyone advise me on the above ? Thanks alot..

Diamond comparison | Compare Diamonds to choose and buy the best one

Guys what do you think of these diamonds?

Out of all these diamonds do you think the 0.84 diamond is the most worth it?

imho, out of these 5 I would go for the 0.84 as the most worth.. as long as you are ok with H color.. HCA score of 1.4 is good.. the scope images are not too great, but may not have much impact visually.. the price per carat is also better than the 0.756.

Do note go through customs need to pay 7% gst.. Personally, at this price level I would feel safer to source and buy from local shops.. shd be able to find similar specs at similar prices..

Price sounds reasonable for their Super Ideal cut.

Diamond comparison | Compare Diamonds to choose and buy the best one

Guys what do you think of these diamonds?

Out of all these diamonds do you think the 0.84 diamond is the most worth it?

My summary:

0.716 G VS2 (expert selection)
- Many feathers on girdle [dangerous]
- Bezel light leakage
- Slightly unsymmetrical hearts

0.798 F VS1 (premium selection)
- Light leakage under table
- Bezel light leakage
- Not symmetrical. Graded "Very Good" symmetry. That's 2 grades down from "Ideal" symmetry.

0.756 F VS1 (expert selection)
- Massive light leakage under table
- Bezel light leakage
- Unsymmetrical arrows
- Unsymmetrical hearts

0.81 G SI1 (expert selection)
- Massive light leakage under table
- Bezel light leakage
- Can see heave incusion scratch mark on arrow
- I would try go for minimum VS2 to be safe

0.84 H VS2 (expert selection)
- Slightly dugged girdles
- unsymmetrical arrows
- slightly unsymmetrical hearts

Whiteflash standards goes by:
A Cut Above (ACA)
Expert selection
Premium Selection
Virtual Selection

IMO, I'll try to aim for at least their ACA diamonds to be safe. Cos some of their ACA diamonds have issues too.

I'll stay away from those with light leakage issues. Those will have the biggest impact on diamond's appearance. The parts that have light leakage, will have no sparkle.

I'm still in a dilemma.

0.53 F VVS2 Solasfera (5.3k) total
0.46 G VVS2 Super Ideal 3.2k total

Should I get a Solasfera. I don't know if I should spend so much on a Solasfera.

Hi. I am facing a dilemma.

Currently I am looking at a diamond 0.81c G, VS1. I can add $1500 to upgrade to 0.9c, or upgrade from G to E.

Which would be worth it or should I keep to the same diamond?

Thanks!

I am looking at a heart-shaped diamond so it does not appear as big as a round one. my gf is about 1.6m

That's true.. Cos I think for normal round diamond I was told for 1.68m girl 0.6-.7 will do. I guess find a gd one with a gd cut that give the shine and brilliance is more important!

Clarity

Btw can anyone advise if a vs2 clarity is gd enough for a diamond? I reserved a 0.71 D vs2 that day while there is a 0.7 g vvs at slightly more ex but I chose color over clarity

in that case would it be worth to upgrade from G to E?
