Just doing a survey, I just bought a diamond from Jann... 0.8 carat and all the excellent quality like E colour and so on and proposed to my gf. She accepted it and except for the first 4-5 times when we go out, i see her wearing it.

Other than that, for the past 3 weeks i see that she does not wear the ring anymore and yes, i see her everyday. The reason she gave is she does not really likes to wear a ring.

Our relationship is still good, but just wondering if its the norm and i am thinking too much?

I know of some girls who are not used to wearing rings though... sometimes mind wear on her ring, sometimes on her necklace.. Her wedding band le?

I see.... freshly proposed, so no wedding band for the time being. but seems wasted after months of research and effort getting a ring.

I feel you man.. My gf usually don't wear rings too. Initially she wears it on and off. Mainly because she scared she loses it.. Her mentally was that she's wearing something that is worth thousands on her finger and rather not wear it than to lose it. But after awhile, she got used to it.. Now she wears her diamond ring and wedding band together. lol

i think you're thinking too much... likely that she fear losing/scratching it before the big day and also probably not used to wearing ring at the same time.

Some girls are also just waiting to be officially married before they wear it together with their wedding band. its just preference bah... if you wish to see her wear it more often, try communicating with her?

0.50 D VVS1

- Don't get flat carats like 0.50. A 0.4+++ will cost much cheaper and it'll be hard to see the difference.
- It's not a triple Excellent. The Symmetry is Very Good only.
- It has medium blue fluorescence.. That's a super bad combo for a D VVS1. The fluorescence will cancel out your diamonds "whiteness" and clarity.
- HCA score very high

0.45 D VS1

- It's a steep deep. High depth %, high crown and high pavilion angle. This diamond will look much smaller than a proper 0.45ct because its cut way too long.
- HCA score also very high

Overall, both diamond on "paper" can look good because of color and clarity, but if you take a closer look at the proportions and other details, they don't give good value for money. Try to at least filter the HCA scores to be less than 1.4 :)

oh thanks for the advise!

very excited as I intend to purchase a proposal ring by next month latest.

So far only started reading on those "education" tabs found on those online website like jamesallen, vivodiamonds, etc. Well gotto start somewhere ya :s13:

Definitely still a fresh newbie here :D

I have seen alot of members here choosing JP as their preferred choice when getting a ring.

Will the regulars in this thread please tell me (newbie) the advantages of JP over those online jewelry stores (eg. jamesallen, vivodiamonds, bluenile, whiteflash) ? Your valuable comments will save me alot of time in narrowing down the right place to get my ideal proposal ring :s34:

  • Is it the designs of JP is better ?
  • Is it because they have a physical shop at Far East and you can physically see the diamonds ?

All feedbacks are welcome :)

Advantage is you get to see the diamond physically and with the scopes. Problem with different stores is that they all have their own "Ideal" cut standards. Some can call theirs Super Ideal cut when it's not.. So you will need to know your stuff of what really makes a Super Ideal cut first. From there, you shortlist the proper Super Ideal Cut then compare. By far, JP's Super Ideal cut criteria is the strictest among all of them. So in terms of quality, you can't go wrong.
Some local stores can even call VG grade cut diamond as Super Ideal :s22:

Design wise, JP seem to have most variation and have 3D drawing of the designs you want to customize.

Alright. How about the general prices of JP, reasonable or more to the higher side ? When compared to retail stores of the roughly same diamond specs, (if anyone did such comparison before). :)

Go compare :) Retail stores Hof/Destinee about double the prices pf JP. And I wouldn't call those those Super Ideals either..

You should do some groundwork yourself too.. :)

To summarize:
1. Good QC
2. Generally good service where u get a good explanation on what to look for in a diamond etc.

Price is always subjective as diff ppl perceive diamond value differently IMO. Best to look at the diamonds offered and value them based on ur own sets of criteria. :)

Best to ask the sales person who served u. I did have to request for it else they like no hurry like that.

Means if I don't request for it, they will not send me at all? Are the pictures part of the purchase package?
