Frankly, nobody can tell the difference between these 2 diamonds with their naked eye unless they see the certificate, so go with your heart.

My jeweller told me before that 99% of people cannot tell the difference between the colour of diamonds in the "colorless" to the "near colorless" range. Once the diamond is set, even expert jewellers who handle diamonds on a daily basis find it hard to tell D apart from J with their naked eye. For the rest of the world, it is impossible.

Even if the people around you have very sharp eyes, when will there really be perfect conditions to examine the color of the diamond? Nobody is under the white light of the jewellery shop all the time!

Okie.. Actually I made my decision already.. Just wanted to hear what u all think.. Thanks!

I bought the Octagon! =:p
At first saw their Solasfera... then Brellia.. then Octavia.. then finally confirm on the Octagon. More to love and first sight...
Felt quite pai seh for my fickleness..Despite me going to their shop 5 times, they were very accommodating and patient.. I'm not the type who will upgrade in the future, so this is a once in a lifetime ring for me.

This is the diamond I'm getting :D
Now just need to wait for my scopes and then my 3d design.

Wow, how much is the rock? Did you compare it side by side with the solesfera n brellia for the sparkle n scintillation?

Ohh no la my case wasn't like that. I was choosing between 2 diamonds

0.71 D colour vvs2 (feather , cloud I think)
0.77 E color vvs2 (pinpoint , needle)

The 0.77 cost only 200 more..which one will u pick haha

I would take the 0.77, hardly any difference between D and E! :s13:

What's the spec for the ideal cut? Any AGS cert reference?:)

Hi,

It's AGS 104072876076 for 8.1K with setting.

But I was quoted this at 6.5k with setting GIA 2161215336.

which is more worth it?

Yup! Its a 0.61 E VS1 about 6k+. The price is the same as their solasfera. its kinda between the solasfera and brellia. The scintillation is like the solasfera, very dazzling and lots of movements. Sparkles is not as small as the solasfera but like the brellia.. bigger. I got to compare them outside the shop too under natural lighting without those jewelry lights. It still looked very nice.

Wah.. the patterning looks very nice..

Ya, we liked the patterning.. can't wait for the finished product :)

Nice photo. Shld have taken one like that before setting it

Thanks! We took a few photos and this turned out to be the nicest one. On hindsight, I should have taken some videos too to record the sparkles..

AGS 104072876076 - cannot see the report without the carat weight.

The GIA 2161215336 proportions not good. Table and depth is 60% & 60.4%
IRCC, this is called 60&60 diamond. I read somewhere before it is not a good propotion.

The star facet is too small too . I wouldn't call this an Ideal cut.

Hi all, would like to check any bros or sis here that purchased from Bluenile SG before? How is it?

Thanks.

P.S Anyone can advise if 0.30ct G SI2 normal cut ~$1k is ok?

I bought 2 rings from bluenile before. Their prices are better than any stores in sg that I know of. But I have never been to JP so can't compare. Actually this is my first time in this part of the forum. Haha

The experience was fuss free and shipment was very fast. But got pros and cons. Biggest con is you can't see the stone and ring. Biggest pro is price. Here is my experience:

First ring was an emerald cut in an off the shelf vintage setting. The cert looks good. But when I recieved it, there is a small dot in the window of the stone that really bothered us. So from that exp, I realized that for a clean cut like the emerald, asscher cuts, the clarity and location/type of inclusion is super important. Returning it was a breeze and getting a replacement was also easy. No questions asked. The problem is on SG customs side! I ended up paying GST twice. I tried claiming back the gst for the returned ring and filed all the paperwork but I never got my money back. So that sucked. But still got savings, I paid about 8.5k for a 1.15 ct stone, F color, vvs1, excellent cut. That was a few years back.

The second ring was a yellow diamond with customized setting. It was an easy experience as well. I emailed them the design I want, they sketch it out, gave me a price and in a few weeks I got my ring. This one was at a significant savings. I went to Larry jewelry and they quoted me like 100k for a 2 ct vivid yellow stone. Mad. I paid about 20k for a 1.45 ct, intense yellow, radiant cut with good specs.

In retrospect, I think buying jewelry is an intimate and enjoyable (to me) experience. You want to see the stone, admire it, mull over it and experience the buying process. Buying online makes its a clinical procedure. So depends on you I guess. If you know what you want and just want to save money, I cannot fault bluenile. In fact I was so impressed with them that I went to buy their stocks right away.

I have a newbie question to ask, I've bought for my gf a sookee brilliant rose ring. The case or the ring setting is nice n my gf likes it alot. I was told by sookee that they have copyright to the ring design.

I was wondering if i could get JP to somewhat copy the design? Is it possible?

I think you can. But to be on the safe side, you can make a slight modification to the ring in order to not incur copyright. E.g. add a small diamond at the sides, put some design pattern at the bottom etc. :D

hi,

Thanks for the reply.

For AGS is 0.76 D VS1 for 8.1k while the GIA 0.76E VVS2 6.5k.

I find not much differences between these two when I went down to see.

Kindly recommend which to get! thanks!

I had a friend who bought from Bluenile before with no problems. To my knowledge, Bluenile is a trustworthy online retailer.

Price-wise based on my previous research Bluenile is really one of the cheapest. I would make sure that the diamond has an Excellent cut though, because this really affects the look of the diamond.

Personally, I decided against buying the diamond online because I felt that it was too impersonal. Then again, I also decided against buying from JannPaul because it was known among my friends as the "hardwarezone brand", despite the good reviews here. It just felt unromantic to me.

As wondrdoggie said, buying jewelry is an intimate process. I guess everyone has different personal preferences, so just do as your heart says within your budget :)

That's an interesting perspective bro. HWZ like Pricescope is just another forum to discuss leh. JannPaul can customize a ring for you. A custom, unique piece is more romantic than an off-the-shelf piece leh.

But ya la to each his own.

My first diamond was from Bluenile. Had the same experience as wondrdoggie. The diamond had an obvious black spot on the top even though they assured me that the diamond is eye clean. Sparkle wise, it was off. Somehow when I look at it there was something off.
I brought it to a gemologist and he gave me a verbal appraisal. Apparently, the diamond I bought was "milky", which explained that powdered diamond look. He said milky diamonds are not shown on the certificate.. Guess I was quite sway to kenna a milky one..

Did some research and found out the ultimate reason why..
They don't see or check the diamonds before shipping to buyers because they don't hold it in stock.
The diamonds are shipped from the real company that owns it to a mounting crafter facility so all the online help and replies are generic templates based off what the cert says.

Ended up just buying a new diamond locally where I could see it first.

Yes I agree. I bought my fiancee's engagement ring from a private jeweller as well, and so was involved in selecting the diamond to designing the ring. It's just that during a discussion with my friends we discovered we all only knew JannPaul through here, so it's known to us as the "hardwarezone brand". After the discussion it just does not feel romantic to me anymore. It's just my friends and nothing to do with JP; nearly all the posts here are about JP and most have said they are satisfied with JP.

hi guys.. Placed a deposit at JP for this diamond GIA report no 6167860364 by 9.5k. Any comments about the specs vs the price?

I was considering so hard between this and the other one that is $300 cheaper , 0.81 carat smaller but color E, similar vs2 . Did I made the right choice between these 2?
