Do you guys think its ok for me to have a plain white gold wedding band while my hub wears the 916 yellow gold plain wedding band? Is white gold better or platinum better?

I am exactly having the same issue! I like gold but my fiancée ring is white gold. So I got no choice I am going for 2 tones to at least match abit.. My mom says need to be a pair (personal opinion).

Basically
White gold: cheap, turns yellow over the time
Platinum: expensive, higher density (heavier / solid feel), actual colour

We wear platinum wedding bands and ring is platinum setting too. We both hate yellow gold. I don't think it matters if the wedding bands are different you are two people doesn't need to be the same. Are the designs the same? why make them from the same material?

Why do you think white gold is cheaper? what makes a white gold ring cheaper? Unless you have a 24K gold ring (highly unlikely as it is too soft) then the gold content in an 18K white and 18K yellow gold ring are exactly the same? The main difference is the way they make the alloy for white gold vs yellow gold. If anything white gold settings are more expensive because they rhodium plate them after.

An 18K palladium white gold vs 18K nickel white gold vs 18K yellow gold have exactly the same amount of gold in them so the value is the same.

We prefer simple plain design wedding band since we are wearing for life. So now its just the material. He likes yellow gold but i dont haha, so im contemplating platinum or white gold

Thats the reason I gave in to my fiancee. lol I must agree that gold doesn't really match well with the diamonds and her e-ring is in white gold too. Oh well..

If $$ is not an issue just go platinum but provided you like the weight else white gold is good too. If the white gold colour degraded, just go for polishing and replating, it is not an issue too. :)

Yes you are correct when comparing between white gold and platinum, I didnt read comments as which is better white gold vs platinum I read it as white gold vs yellow gold vs platinum.

(yellow gold = white gold) < platinum :)

Oh and platinum goes dull over time and needs polishing I like the dull look but on e-ring it doesn't look as nice

My e-ring is white gold w diamond.. think i'll just go with white gold plain band? If not gotta check out pricing of platinum. Got no idea about platinum at all

If you want to match his yellow gold band, you can consider those white/yellow gold mix band? It has both colors and might look more matchy

Yep, white gold will complement well with your e-ring. But try out the platinum bands too, in case you like the feel. :)

At the end of the day, as long as both of you are happy, rings matching or not, it doesn't really matter. ;)
