Lucky you. I had a less pleasing experience with JP regarding their crafting though. Mine is an octagon halo and i waited 8 weeks for the ring to be crafted. When my fiance collected the ring, one of the edges was not straight and we were told to bring the ring back for recrafting after proposal. The recrafting took 5 weeks and the halo setting is still not perfect. We were told that we can get them to recraft again, but seriously, to wait another 4-5 more weeks?! Very upset as i only get to wear my ring for less than a week.

My wife's ring is not as complex so I understand the time frame was short. Even that said I was pleasantly surprised. Her ring is a replica of the tiffany round brilliant with tapered baguette. Nothing fancy like your ring with the halo setting. I feel for you and understand your disappointment. On the bright side they havent turned you away so customer service is at least front and centre.

Yea you are right. No complaints about their service. I think i will be holding back the recrafting till the diamond is upgraded.

This is an overdue review for JannPaul. I give them 2 big thumbs up for their service and education. I went to JP last year to recce and was served by Lionel. Before I went for the appointment, I told them beforehand that I’m there just to see and won’t be buying. Even after this, Lionel was still very friendly and gave me fantastic service. Being in the service line myself, I was surprised as most sales people will give half-hearted effort after knowing that the customer won’t buy. He was very patient with me and is quite a funny guy. It took me some time to digest his teachings but it was easy to understand compared to reading alone.

After 1 year I scheduled an appointment with JP again and they actually remembered me and still had my records! Although all the diamonds I viewed was sold already.. haha. Lionel helped me again. After 1 year, I forgotten most of the things I learnt and he gave me a refresher. So he gave me the education.. again.. haha.

It's not easy to digest all of it in one sitting, but you get a much better perspective on diamonds.

They have an equipment to let you compare the diamond in different lights called the “Diamond Dock”. You can see how the diamond perform with 2 types of light effects. If you can, visit their shop in the afternoon. You can ask them to show you the diamonds outside the shop too.

They were showing me the traditional cushion diamond with the cushion brellia.
This is when its under Led lights which is those usual display lights.

and fluorescent lights. Traditional cushion looks disorganized in a sense. It like made up of many small random shards.

This is the Aset scope of both diamonds. Big big difference...
The traditional cushion is cut completely different and with major light leakages too.

The traditional cushion diamond is on the right side. Because of the light leakages, you can see like a window effect on the diamond. At that part, you are literally seeing through the diamond.

Lionel placed both the diamonds on his drawings and showed me the light leakage effect. In the light leakage cushion, you can see his blue ink handwriting through the diamond. Whereas you can't see it through the Brellia at all. Which is good because a diamond is supposed to reflect light!

Will update with more pics when I have the time.

Hi 1000smiles, you mind sharing the specs of your Brellia? Thinking of upgrading too... got poisoned by your post. haha
What casing design did you choose?

To be honest with you I am not sure what the baguettes cost. We settled on the ring design and the solitaire diamond and the baguettes were costed into the setting. Did I get a good deal not too sure. The setting is in platinum with 2 x .3 ct baguettes and the 1.38ct super ideal for $24.5K. I know if we were to get this ring made elsewhere it would have been much more expensive and the tiffany ring for the same setup was over $50K with a G or H diamond from memory.

After understanding more about diamonds I now have a better appreciation for what it means to be an excellent diamond and it shows in the difference between her new ring and her original engagement ring.

Hi anybody got any idea why my friend ring seems like a good deal
What she told me was the ring was from Poh Kim 0.7C E colour and VVS1 5k Plus

compare to JP don't think we can get the same?

Am i missing some important stuff we need to note?

Hi I am not a pro but I would think that we will need to look at the scopes and hca score (for solitaires) to see if it's a good diamond. Better to also check the Gia Certs.

Sometimes the stats are good but the cut is no good which makes the diamond less brilliant and the fire is lesser due to light leakages.

Do you happen to have the diamond number??

The diamond 4C only reflects the material quality, not much on the cut quality.

The price difference is mainly the cut quality, which can be checked against the HCA score and scopes.

I couldnt really go smaller her original e-ring was .75ct needed to make the new ring bigger. Not that it was meant to be an upgrade or replacement to her e-ring. She wears this one on her right hand, so she wears both at the same time.

The bling from the new ring is huge...........

Ideal/Aset Scope

I hope this doesn't sound crazy, but any Good Samaritan working or staying in/near CBD has an ideal or Aset scope to lend?

I'm buying a proposal ring, but don't think I'd like to invest in shipping one of these over just for this one diamond hunt. Plus there's a waiting period to ship these things in... :)

Lunch or coffeebreak on me!

Mine's a 0.6ct F VS1.
I haven't chose my settings yet. I came late for my appt and by the time they finish the diamond education the shop was closing. Had to schedule another appt to choose the design.
