Went to JP today and I must say, the service is really living up to the expectations and standards most forumers have mentioned.

He went through with me a very thorough breakdown of what to look out for and also shared with me some diamonds for my consideration. My budget is between 7-8k -


Super Ideal Cut:
0.80 G VS2 $8,600

Ideal Cut:
0.85 G VS1 $8,000
0.91 G VS2 $9,500


Leaning towards the Ideal Cut at 0.85ct.

Can I request for scope images before committing?

Why is the diamond specs on the sookee.display board so much cheaper for bigger carat and similar specs. The only diff is.probably the cut. Will a cut make so.much diff in price? Like 1-2k

Yes. A cut will affect the amount of sparkle.

SUPER IDEAL 0.8CT G VS2

IDEAL 0.85CT G VS1

IDEAL 0.91CT G VS2

I'm definitely leaning towards the 0.85CT in Ideal Cut. Vince from JP also said the 0.85 is very close to SI cut, only because the table was 59% hence it was considered as a Ideal cut instead.

Apart from JP, I'm also going to be looking at other options from White Dwarfs, Josigems, and another private Jeweler.

The two ideal cuts look good, but you're missing the aset scope.. suggest you get that as well in case of surprises

Their standard is very strict.. In the hearts and arrows scope, the Super Ideal cut one does look the most symmetrical though

The 0.85 ideal is less symmetrical than the super ideal and will appear darker in the middle.. but I'll still recommend it as it's more value for money with only minor imperfections.

Suggest you view both diamonds in normal light conditions and see if you can spot the difference before making the decision

Got my ring's 3d design What do you guys think? Any suggestions??

We were worried how the ring will look on her ring in this design and they helped create the ring on a hand. My partner has slightly bigger fingers than average. So they made the fingers to her same size for us to see the overall proportions. Thought this was quite cool..

Design looks nice! My ring is also abit similar to your and with a Brellia too. haha

Amex true cashback cards has 5% rebates for the 1st 3 months after u receive your card, cap at 5k. means u get back $250. provided the shop carries amex. Other than that what i can think of is charge to your UOB one CC. $800 a month for installment for 6 months can get back $160.

but pay by instalment got processing fee right. must see whether it is worth the hassle..

I'm currently comparing the 0.9F VS2 with JP's 0.85G VS2.

Price wise, $7950 for 0.9CT at White Dwarf, versus $8000 for 0.85CT at JP.

Actually still leaning towards JP because the cut, H&A, and aset scope seems better.

Anyone bought from WD before? Can share experience?

I bought solitaire from meyson before. But theirs is just based on 4cs and the 3excellence. They dont do diamond education like JP cause i doubt their sales personnel are trained. Prices are pretty affordable. Can go there if you are not picky about diamonds. But once JP, forever JP haha.

Hi thanks for the reply. I was quoted $4550 for 0.57 vs2 d at JP just for the stone itself, total about $5.2k including setting. While at meyson i was quoted $3850 for 0.5 d vs2 inclusive of setting. All are triple excellent, does the 0.07 difference warrent a $1.2k difference? What am i missing out here?

You got the GIA number? It's most likely to do with the Cut

No processing fee if the retailer provides those instalment plan and u opt for the plan during ur purchase. Got processing fee if u pay 5k one shot yourself on ur cc then call in bank to break it down into instalments.

Missing out on the cut..meyson quote u like what other retailers do.. they base on the triple excellence, their price is lower cause they dont do big marketing.. i wore my jp ring and my colleagues all say super shiny though its just 0.46.
