I don't have the cert no with me now, but I did calculate the HCA score and it was about 4.8.

Is the HCA score very important also?

wow, HCA score 4.8... I wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole

The Holloway Cut Adviser represented an important advancement in the consumer’s understanding and appreciation of diamond cut quality. And it was extremely useful as a screening tool before the advent of laboratory cut grading and the broad use of reflector tools such as ASET and IdealScope.

Research into diamond light performance has progressed significantly in the years since the HCA tool was introduced, rendering its value and relevancy today significantly diminished. But in the absence of other diagnostics, it still has value as a rejection tool to eliminate likely poor performers.

The ASET scope will be more useful than the HCA tool, but the HCA tool itself can be used as a rejection tool. If the HCA score of the diamond is 4.8, it'll confirm look very bad under the ASET scope for sure. This is one of the typical diamond examples that you want to avoid

seems like solasfera is more expensive than octagon, if their specs are the same... Can anyone advise if the super ideal cut is more or less expensive than octagon?

Solasfera is about the same price as the octagon. Super ideal cut will be alittle cheaper than the octagon / solasfera.

They just got new stocks for their solasfera. Good time to hoot now

Went down yesterday. Most of the Solasfera new stocks were sold out already

The 0.4-0.7 range were all choped up damn fast..

High carat, color and clarity is are all no use if the cut isn't good. The cut will make the diamond more brighter and shinier which will visually boost up the other Cs.

My gf's friend had a 1ct D VVS2 diamond ring. When I compared it with our 0.8 F VS1 Octagon cut diamond, the size difference isnt noticeable. Couldn't really see the color difference as well.. In fact, at some angles, I though my diamond was even whiter... but maybe I'm abit biased... hah. Though our diamond was shinier for sure.. her friend was also quite shocked.

hi all, just got back from JP education session w my SO. Wanted a high .6 Super Ideal diamond but there weren't any. We were shown 0.61 and 0.62 for around 5k with a VS1/2 E/G color. I was quite disappointed because I knew i wanted one that was >0.65..

We then asked if there were any low 0.7 diamonds and was shown a 0.71 G VS2 for $6550.
The GIA number is 6232232549. What do you guys think?

HCA score of 1.3? Do you have the scopes? If its a super ideal JP, mostly are fantastic.. I realised after obsessing over scopes, when I went down again.. that they mostly look v good no matter what...

yep HCA score of 1.3 and a super ideal from JP. They have yet to send us the scopes.. Will definitely post the urls to the scopes here to seek expert advice from you guys!
I know JP has really high standards but since it's our first big purchase, just want to get some inputs from the diamond experts here hehe.

Woah G VS 2 is great, it's gonna be the best price you can get for the particular size without compromising any aesthetic.

Scopes are not really necessary if you're into super ideal. all super ideal will look the same in naked eyes due to the strict criteria.

If you're searching for a 'better' stone within a bunch of ideal diamonds then there's a need to compare scopes. For diamonds like Octagon/Solasfera/Super Ideal/Brellia, there's really no point comparing the scopes.

Collected my ring this morning!!!
First thing I did was compared it to my mum's ring. haha. Settled for a simple ring instead. Our wedding bands is going to be more complicated design so for the diamond ring, we opted for a simplier one.

The top ring is mine. Super Ideal Cut 0.91 G VS2.
Bottom ring is a mom's non-impressive 1.00 E VVS1

Very very impressed with the Super Ideal Cut quality. Pardon my chopsticks! My hands keep shaking. haaha

From my observation:
Diamond size
They look about the same size though its 0.1ct difference.
Better cut = better proportions = wider/bigger diamond.

Color
Strangely, the G looks whiter than the E. The centre portion of 1.00 E VVS1 is very black and dark (light leakages if ircc, ring of death?).

Clarity
Can't see a difference at all. We were already told that the diamond is eye clean. So I didn't expect to see any difference anyway.

Sparkle
I can't get the sparkle snapped on picture.
Really way more colorful rainbow effect.
Absolutely love the arrows from front view...very lovely effect..
The 1ct one on the cert it says hearts and arrows too. just couldn't make out the effect at all though.

Conclusion
Kudos to JP. Service was imppecable. They helped to speed up my ring before my overseas trip. The whole process was smooth.. it was a pleasure dealing with them. Highly recommended.

This is my friend's ring. Love the simplicity yet classy look of her ring.
The setting brings out the octagon shape diamond. Make me feel like changing ring again.

I was also given this diamond as a choice at JP.

I noticed that the center of the diamond is green for contrast and chose a smaller diamond over this in the end.

What size is this? Actually the one i picked was green in the scopes too. I actually went down again and compared with others..

Then I realised, they look the same, green or red in the middle.. the difference is too little to tell.. I ended up picking my original (still green in the middle) as I realise at different angles, it turns red too..
