If this one is JannPaul's Super Ideal, you don't even have to ask about its light performance. Cuz double, triple confirm plus lamb chop it will be the best among all the 3Ex diamonds.

Only thing you have to ask is whether or not it is worth the price you paid for. But I believe their prices are standard lar so you don't wanna ask also never mind hahaha.

Ohh yes, also need to ask your wallet can take it or not suddenly become empty haha.

one of my friend buy gold ring from tiffany n co without diamond as proposal ring, because got resale value, unlike diamond rings. Mutually agreed.

Gold ring is only 999 or 916 gold then got high resale value. Even that so.. you are most likely to lose out on the workmanship n gst u paid for. For high resale value... most people buy from pawnshop like moneymax or maxi cash because no gst, no workmanship n slightly lower Gold price.. assuming the time when you want to sell.. and the Gold price remain the same when u buy.. u will lose about 4-5sgd per gram only

I thought the resale value of diamonds would hold up relatively well despite being non-branded? Or am I totally misguided? 😊
That's gonna depends on the market, you're gonna need to sell to other people whom are searching for diamond lor, but definitely harder to sell and less value as compared to a branded one.

That is interesting insight. I always thought since it was jewelry then it would retain resale value thinking a diamond is a diamond, gold is gold, etc.

So basically, it is not even considered a good investment aside from making your SO happy.

Gold, silver, platinum etc, even base metals like iron, copper have intrinsic value because they have a lot of other applications other than being used for jewellery. You can find all of them in your computer or smartphone.

Not so for diamonds. You won't see anyone grinding up brand name GIA 3EX diamonds into dust for diamond drill tips! :s13:

It's no secret that the prices of diamonds for jewellery are largely dictated by consumer demand for jewellery, strict control of supply and a wildly successful marketing campaign.

That's not to say that diamonds can never be investment pieces. But you'll have to look at something like a very high 6 figure sum diamond or above, basically diamonds costing millions of dollars, before they will ever have a chance of appreciating in value.

Hi all,

I realize that forum mainly discusses about JP. I been to JP and was quite amazed at their designs, I want to weigh other options before making a decision on the place to get the ring.

I heard from someone who works in this line, that Taka is one of the major diamond supplier.

I went there to see their diamond prices were indeed very competitive (as compared to JP) (if I never remember wrongly, there was a 0.78 carat diamond with VS1, color of G and cut is very good selling at 3.8k). Some as claimed by the salesperson were selling at below retail value. However I find that the workmanship of the ring settings aren't that fantastic. Maybe I could buy the diamond and custom make the ring lol.

Anyone has any experience buying one from Taka?
