Many people i know also don't want bigger stones because it "looks too big" on the finger. I think its just an excuse not to go bigger on the carat, from experience, with the correct setting a bigger stone will look stunning.

Was considering a 0.4ct from JannPaull but settled with a 0.7ct from JamesAllen with similar budget. If budget is a problem you can definitely look at other sources to stretch the carat, I believe people here are helpful to find for you.

Hmm. I think you should mention that you had to sacrifice on the Cut and grades to get the 0.7 for the same budget. Yours was a non-super ideal and SI2 right?

Hi,

Lots of talk on JannPaul in this thread. Can anyone give me an objective review between Larry's Premium and JannPaul's super ideal diamonds? Larry having a 30% Citibank discount now and the prices are comparable. Just want to hear you guys' thoughts on the difference between the two.

This is very straightforward.

If prices are comparable, choose the one with better light performance after comparing them under the ASET and Idealscope scopes.

Larry's got no scope one lah. You'd have to purchase a set online first if you want to check their diamonds under scope

Yes you will definitely have to dial back on specs, but if the dialing back is done right e.g color up to G or H, clarity(must be eye clean) there will be little significant difference in bling compared to a non-super ideal JP stone. Of course, you will also need to check scope images + HCA make sure is below 1.5 at least. Not easy to find these kind of stones online but occasionally they do pop up.

JP does the filtering process for you, so all their stones are great, however there is some premium price added due to this.

Anyway I already order from JP and i'm happy with it. Right size and right blinks. :s13:

Congrats on finally ordering ! Good luck on your proposal, i'm sure she'll like it !

Normal 3Ex ideal cut F VS will be around $4,500 to $4,800 depending on how excellent the 3Ex is. Plus another $700 or $800 like that for a simple setting.

I know cuz I searched at JannPaul for a 0.7 before haha.

here can discuss wedding bands or not?
We're looking at Cartier and Tiffany's , material should be Platinum as it's more hardy and it'd be simple as there's no diamond for this
Any brand recommendation?

Brick and Mortar vs online...
what is the Pros and Cons

aside from b&M can look and feel and online is cheaper

Other Pros :
-If you are a miles collector, then you can rack up some good airline miles with your miles credit cards. Think i got around 10k miles with DBS woman's world.
-Faster processing time and delivery, I only waited 2-3 weeks compared to my contacts who got locally from Love & Co etc wait 2 months +
- 100% Trade-in Programs (for JA, not sure with other online retailers) for their regular cuts, I believe JP only offer 100% trade in for super ideal

----

Cons :
- Resizing will cost 25usd and to send to US with insurance cost about 60usd. Longer wait times for resizing or polishing. Troublesome to deliver too. (Although warranty will not void if resize locally, the local jewelers wont be liable for any damages to stones during resizing)
- Seperate 7% GST payment to the delivery company. They will send you an invoice.
- Very hard to find providers that will be able to give both idealscope + ASET. at most you will get idealscope.

If i think of anymore i will update but off the top of my head this is it =:p

I remember being able to see the difference with F and G. Perhaps I'm more color sensitive. Though I was able to tell the bling difference in the Ideal and Super Ideal. TBH, the difference isn't obvious in the shop when there was all those strong lights. But when they showed it again outdoors outside the shop, its like magic :s13: The Super ideal cut was damn bling.

Also, I don't know if you guys know this, JP has access to the diamonds sold online. Most of online stocks are all drop shipping and you just need to give them the GIA certificate number and they will price it. I remember for the same diamond, they offered it cheaper than online. But of course these diamonds are inferior to their Super Ideals which is why its cheaper. Personally, I would prioritise the bling/cut and go for the Super Ideals.

Biggest challenge is to find a good cut. Though as long as you have all the ASET, hearts/arrows scope images, etc. it'll be a good start to compare.

You'll miss out on the after services online. I'm not sure about others but JP gives free resizing, repolishing/plating and engravings. Whereas for online, each time you ship it to and back, it can be more troublesome and costly.

Once my SO hit her ring hard when she tried opening one of those heavy doors with the big metal bar. We went back to JP to do a prong check and true enough, one of the prongs was shifted out of place. They checked and tighten the prong back for us FOC :)

Does all shops locally can provide ASET, hearts/arrows scope images, ? What about online?
Soo Kee , Gold heart , Tiffany's , Love & Co etc ?

Is it ok to buy loose diamond and set locally or do everything online and ship? Assuming I know her ring size la
