You're paying a premium for the higher colour and clarity which is more or less invisible to the naked eye. Up to your preference, but you can reduce the colour to F and clarity to VS2 (if you want to remain in the colourless range). If you are not that picky on colour, G / VS2 would yield even more savings. You can opt to save some cash or use the price difference to bump up the carat weight.

Hi all

I've managed to upload the pictures. Any comments from the gurus will be appreciated! I'm also a little concern on the inclusions. Any thoughts on it?

You inclusion are on the low side for VS2 already, nothing to worry about. Anyway, ALL VS2 inclusion are eye clean, hence it will not cause any negative in terms of aesthetic or durability

Thanks all for your replies thus far! Extremely grateful.

HCA score I believe it's 1.1

On price, I was quoted $5,400. Is this a reasonable pricing?

I'll go for the E. In certain circumstances, it's possible to see yellow tint for G Color, since it's only $100 more and the size is just a little bit different, I'll personally go for the E

I''ll go for E upgrade. unless you can really see the 0.03ct difference, I think $100 more for G to E is well worth it.

Thanks. I went back to JP yesterday and changed to the E color. They were very patient and showed me the different colors again. For the benefit of other bros here, the correct method to see the color difference is from behind of the diamond like this.

vG94R6V.jpg

The left one is the G and right is E. From the back like this, I can tell.

When they showed me again from the front, its very hard. The strong light return on the diamond will up the brightness, making it whiter. I dont find it much of a difference unless I see it from the back. Then again, the difference from the back is also not very obvious. But for $100 more, I might as well up it to the E. The 0.03ct diff is also very minimal.

I'll upload the scopes when I get them.

But bro, sometimes it is not that we don't wanna tone down on the colour and clarity grades to maximise carat weight. It is because they can't find something like that which matches our requirements, at least for my case.

My heart shaped diamond is a 0.74 E IF stone, which is very overkill in the colour and clarity departments. Perhaps an F colour VS2 clarity heart shape might get me up to 0.80 carat for the same pricing, but they just can't find one which I like, even after 2 months. Some were either cut too deep or too shallow, while some did not perform well on the scopes. Maybe heart shapes are rare, I don't know, so I finally decided on this 0.74 E IF diamond.

The feathers are quite far from the edge of the diamond. So you are good to go. Furthermore, this looks quite clean for a VS2. Great find!

Yup I'm aware. But usually there will not be as many constraints when shopping for a round brilliant stone, due to the larger supply. If one is able to wait, there will usually be opportunities. Perhaps not the supposedly best bang-for-buck F or G / VS2 combination (I think G / VS2 is snapped up quite fast), but there will probably be lower spec-ed round brilliants available.

This is why I approached them 18 months - 2 years in advance....#kiasu haha!

need opinions

Hi all,

I've recently went to JP to buy a diamond ring to propose to my gf. Anyone that has good experience in looking at diamonds can give me some comments on the diamond that I've chosen? Like is the light return ok? Are the hearts n arrows ok?

Hi guys,

Just got these specs (images below) from JP. A bit concerned on the following:
(1) ASET image - quite a number of white areas at the circumference
(2) Girdle is Med-Slightly Thick. According to http://yourdiamondteacher.com/diamond-4cs/cut/, super ideal cut should be Thin-Med
(3) Crystal, Cloud, Needle, Feather - So many types of inclusions!

There are a few slightly misaligned arrows, especially those at 11 and 12 o' clock.

1. ASET looks standard for a Super Ideal.

2. From what I know, as long as you avoid the two extremes then should be fine.

3. I believe JannPaul has checked the locations of the inclusions and the eye-cleanliness of the diamond before passing it as a Super Ideal. So you can rest assured.
