Diamond is still the hardest (10), so don’t go and spar your Amora ring with a diamond ring like Jedi fighting with light sabers. But it’s still pretty high on the moh’s scale compared to everything else (9.5), so it should keep it’s sparkle pretty well. For reference, high end watches use sapphire (9) and the modern kitchen countertops are quartz (7). Swaravoski is about 7 and Glass is about 5.5.

From what I’ve heard, cubic zirconia is a little too low on the moh’s scale (8.5) so it gets scratched over time and will lose it’s sparkle.

Went to dig out some gifs I made last time.

Sharper eyes will notice more red and green flashes (fire). That's the special thing about moissanite. Diamond has more white flashes (brilliance).

It's a subtle difference, most people won't see it.

Here's a video of cubic zirconia, amora gem and diamond side by side. Watch full video for different lighting conditions.

Fun fact. Moissanite is the rarest jewel on earth, far rarer than diamond. Because it does not occur naturally on earth. It can only be found on meteors and the only other way to get moissanite is to grow them in the lab.

Amora Gem website has this pic, a bit outdated but you get the idea.

Check their inventory for real time stock list. https://betterthandiamond.com/amora-gem-search.php

I see they currently have a 1.07ct, D colour, Internally flawless stone for USD$658.73. Need to pay GST when you ship to SG.

That time I also looked at many brands, in the end settled on Amora Gem because:
1. They have the most modern machines with the tightest quality control.
2. They facet the girdle, just like diamonds

C&C just does a polish, no facets, like this

I’m doing my upgrade for our anniversary :) Seeking fellow advice, my gf fingers are pretty thin and Long so I’m a little on the fence on the size. I’m upsizing from 0.4ct to 0.8ct, Long awaited present. Looking for some advice what you guys think since my gf told me to decide myself. lol
She said she dont need an upgrade, but I just feel upping the size abit as we grow older, I noticed her peers having bigger diamonds.

I’m thinking of actually going for a simple without side diamonds but don’t have the pic here, 4 prongs and I’m leaning to these 2.

I’ve been lurking on a few octagons here lately and back then, I was already deciding between the Brellia and Octagon. So thought of trying the Octagon now. Just seeking some advice cause it’s a substantial upgrade. I’m thinking that the sharp north pointing orientation look suuuper classy in that picture? And like a very plain setting will be nice? Or should I be a little conservative and just with the round?

That’s a very nice gesture!
I duno about others but I would prefer round. Bcuz back to basic and lasting. The rest of the cuttings feels more like fashion diamond instead to mi and I would always feel like it should be round.

My gf once said that she actually prefer round to the rest. Bcuz she think the pointed areas like nt good.
But is Juz her own thoughts.
Like how Chinese always eat reunion dinner on a round table.
To her marriage should b round and full. Complete circle with no sharp edges. Same as the round diamond.

Also I do Thnk the round looks bigger.
Doesn’t look like a 0.8 in the pictures.

But if she don’t need any upgrade would she prefer the money to be spent on sumthing else that she likes of prefer. Mayb better to ask her what she wants or like or prefer the money to b used on.

What is the pricing like for the above 2 and the specs?

Me and my gf are open about this kind of stuff. She's been wanting an upgrade for quite awhile now. In fact, she does follow this thread once in awhile as well. Most of her frenz get their diamonds from JP, and one of them has an octagon. She told me on several occasions that she really likes it. Ultimately, she told me its up to me and she would probably like whichever I get. She even came down with me to see see, so I'm wondering which one will suit her hands the best. The octagon is 0.7xct. It got 88 facets and 8 sides so got 888 :s13:

Den I Thnk she likes octagon. Since she mentioned a few times. It will be more meaningful if it’s from you and something she likes! It is unique it it’s own way! And if her original is round this will be obvious and a change for her! It will ordy b obvious with the upgrade la! But will b even more obvious with the change in shape! 😂 she cn haolian to her friends when they ask her! Her frenz sure envy! Get it the octagon!

tbh i'd use the premium for octagon to up my SIC carat, especially since JP SIC is already bling as it is; going for the 88 facets is just a bonus.

if you're talking about the unique shape, i took a pic & vid wearing a round and octagon side by side (oct 0.7x, SIC 0.8x) and showed all my friends without mentioning that the shape is different- nobody even noticed

if yall are into unique shapes and extra bling then octagon is good, otherwise carat usually wins

Looks more like a 1ct man. Plus I think the diamond will look even bigger on a plain setting without this small diamond distraction.
IMO, the octagon in the square orientation is nicer coz it makes it look more like a octagon. Which diamond did you get last time?

I have to say I prefer a round diamond myself ever since the heart shape diamond trend came and went.... It didn't age well at all.

I do visually prefer the round shape though, not sure why. I think it's because the round contrasts the very sharp hearts and arrows in the centre of the diamond.

Appreciate the sharing on amora gem! I'm actually slightly tempted to get a more low-profile ring (0.5ct) because my main one is too AA for my personality 😂 I've been taking it off in public places because I don't want strangers making assumptions about me based on my ring lol.

Been getting stares? Yours is extra special cos 1. Big, 2. Grey, 3. Rose gold

All 3 properties are not that common here. I remember your vid, very eye catching.

Thank you :o Yes I think it's the size and unusual colour because grey is neutral like white (it looks silvery grey in daylight) so unless they already know how grey diamonds look, they probably can tell that diamond is a bit "different" but can't explain how. So I think it's the stares of curiosity haha.

But ya... some days I just want to blend in!! =:p

It’s a beautiful ring, the octagon looks huge too. May I ask what’s your ring size?

Ps: sorry new to this, still figuring out how to reply a message.

Thank you. I cant rem if its 47 or 49. It looks huge because of the halo setting. Have you chosen your diamond?
