Thank you. I cant rem if its 47 or 49. It looks huge because of the halo setting. Have you chosen your diamond?

Yup! Octagon 0.8ct as well. Mine’s without halo though. Been lurking around this forum to look at pictures of everyone’s beautiful rings. Was wondering if Octagon diamond can be upgraded at JP? Or only their SIC.

If i rem correctly, i think only ideal diamonds are not eligible for upgrade.

All the signature cuts can upgrade. My previous one was a Brellia and I upgraded to the Octagon.

Hi guys, was wondering if anyone has gotten engagement rings from online, would greatly appreciate to hear opinions on it.

so basically today i had made a trip down to jann paul / house of hung via an appointment in the afternoon, and told them that i'm looking out for heart shape diamond ring and told them budget is at about 3.5k

so the assistant got me two heart shape diamond rings (both 0.5 ish carat, but forget the detailed specs of the other one, but specs close enough) that suited well within budget. one of which is:

Heart shape
- 0.53 carat
- vs2
- F
- no fluorescence
- plus settings (3 prongs with diamonds)
- 18k white gold
- 3.5k
- had use ASET scope to see light performance. good mixture of red and green (more percentage of green though)

Which i find it quite reasonable, as other shops such as venus tears and lee hwa had quoted about 3.5k est for 0.29 carat with side diamonds and 5k plus for 0.50 plus plus carat.

with that said, i decided to take a look through online website such as james allen, blue nile, vivo diamonds etc etc. and was surprise to find that they offer carat size of 0.7 plus at a lower price.

So now still pondering whether to get it online anot since i can get a bigger carat size for lower price :s13:, but was afraid that i might get scam or disappointed with the delivery timing and quality of the diamond (as seen from past replies from other members, but that was years ago).

therefore, would greatly appreciate someone to kinda run me through the pros and cons of getting it online, best online websites to get from, and recent experience and etc.

The heart shape that u saw had good light performance? Wasn't the centre like seeing through a glass under the ASET scope? Not trying to nitpick or anything but that was the main factor that made me reject the heart shape I saw. If they have such a heart shape I would love to see.

I think the thing about heart shapes is the length width ratio gotta be something that you/your gf likes in a sense can't be too long or too wide. Issue with buying online is you can't see the diamond's performance before purchase. But all I know about hearts is that bigger carat hearts look better haha. If you buy online also gotta consider gst that you'll be charged and if you're okay with finding a local shop and the cost to do resize/replate when the need arises. I think James Allen and blue Nile has all along been okay.. See if you can get reviews from people living in Singapore would be best!

Hi bladell! I bought my gf's engagement ring from Fonder Diamond. They have a showroom at Ayer Rajah near one-north MRT. From approving setting design to delivery only took 2 weeks! Just collected yesterday and can't wait for my gf to see it!

They have a website that lists diamonds from about 20 suppliers. You can buy online or can contact them to do a Purchase Order for you.

It is true you can't see the diamond when you buy online however Fonder's website transparently shows each diamond's characteristics and stats for your consideration. They do 1 free resize too.

Anyway PM-ed you!

I second your opinion on heart shaped diamonds. I think the light return and sparkle just isn't as attractive as a classic round brilliant.

Thing is, hear shapes dun perform well.. its more for the shape. You will always find majority of greens in the aset. That is one of the ''cons'' of the heart shape.
They usually have quite alot of greens and some reds, and you want to minimize the whites as much as possible.

Most concerning is the shape of the heart. You dont want it too long or too fat.

Are you dead set on a heart shape? You shld compare heart shape diamonds with JP collection diamonds for its light performance. You may change your mind. Personally I see heart shape is more of a trend thing... comes and goes..

I’m doing my upgrade for our anniversary :) Seeking fellow advice, my gf fingers are pretty thin and Long so I’m a little on the fence on the size. I’m upsizing from 0.4ct to 0.8ct, Long awaited present. Looking for some advice what you guys think since my gf told me to decide myself. lol
She said she dont need an upgrade, but I just feel upping the size abit as we grow older, I noticed her peers having bigger diamonds.

I’m thinking of actually going for a simple without side diamonds but don’t have the pic here, 4 prongs and I’m leaning to these 2.

I’ve been lurking on a few octagons here lately and back then, I was already deciding between the Brellia and Octagon. So thought of trying the Octagon now. Just seeking some advice cause it’s a substantial upgrade. I’m thinking that the sharp north pointing orientation look suuuper classy in that picture? And like a very plain setting will be nice? Or should I be a little conservative and just with the round?

I will go for the Octagon

Edit: Oops I didnt know you got the Octagon already..

Hi guys, I know this is not the right thread but pls allow me to side-track abit.. I don't seem to be able to find a ''right'' thread for this on HWZ.. Since this is the only thread that I have been following for some time, and I find that most of the people here are guys, I think that I will be able to find some suggestions on this thread? :)

My bf presented me with the e-ring a few weeks ago ^^

His birthday is coming up soon and I thought of buying him a watch as a ''form of appreciation''.. My budget is around $1k - $1.5k..
May I know what brands will you guys recommend???

THANKS!!

There is a watch thread at the 'Fashion & Grooming' sub thread, under lifestyle. Maybe you could head there, to ask for opinion.

Congratulations to the both of you!

What kind of watch are you looking at?

For budget of around $1 - $1.5k, maybe can consider Seiko Presage SARW041 Baby Grand Seiko Snowflake (http://www.gnomonwatches.com/image/data/seiko/sarx055/SeikoSARX055-9.jpg | http://files.constantcontact.com/8231c9ef001/f09cc324-ab80-4dd2-bf5a-42338e6f83f4.jpg). It's a beautiful dress watch that can be worn for both formal occasion and daily wear. Great movement inside as well by the Japanese watchmaker.

Has anyone used a diamond necklace for their proposal b4?

My gf told me she won't wear rings because its not suitable for her workplace to wear rings. So she will always need to take off and will end up hardly wearing it. Even for the wedding bands, we will just get the very simple plain ones for the ROM, then she will keep her band at home.

She already told me dont buy her diamond ring but diamond necklace she will still wear. Anyone got do this before?
