As stated earlier n past comments, a triple excellent is too vague
At least with table size, depth, crown n pavilion angle u can tell if it’s in superideal range.
But u still lack scope images ...
Oh it’s a SIC diamond.. Cant post pics as somehow im not allowed 😪

JP’s? Their prices are the cheapest for the highest quality cut u can get, however it can be debatable if you really need such a top top tier cut unless you’re a perfectionist.

I’ll suggest u see if u can find a F color VS2 ideal cut at around the same 5.4k range and see what carat size u can get and compare both or even ask some girls for comments (without telling them the specs) and see which one do they like more.

I personally think 0.7 ideal will look better than a 0.6 Super ideal for a girl.

Lol. Totally agree.
If your budget is tight, just go JP with your other half for education
Then come back another day n pick one ideal cut from HOH.
She will never pick the difference n might even be surprised u got a bigger caret

Hi all,

Need some advice on getting a pre-engagement ring (not ready for d-day yet as we do not feel financially steady enough).

Roughly 900-1.2k budget (basic 6-prong 14k whitegold solitaire setting + diamond.
Hoping to get an Ideal/VG cut, E-H, .25ct-.3+ct, Si1.

Did my fair share of research but would like to know if it is recommended to get a low budget ring from JP or would bluenile/jamesallen be better for a lower budget instead?

Your budget is quite significant for a promise ring and I feel that the 1k+ could be better put towards the actual engagement ring where it could make a 0.10ct difference. Because once she get the engagement ring, I think she will hardly wear the promise ring already (unless her workplace is super conservative and she wants to keep the small diamond ring as an option).

If you really want small solitaires of 0.25ct, I think you can still get them at $600+ at the major jewellery stores.

Yup I’ll agree with the earlier advice.
No point getting a pre-engagement ring. Of course if u can afford JP, you do have the option of the free upgrade without having to recertify in the first 2 years
That is unless u plan on getting married in the first 2 years

Now I love SI1 diamonds cos that present good value but I must caution SI1 clarity with bluenile. If u plan on this clarity grade, u either need to see it in person or go with an online dealer who can vet the eye clean nature of the stone

Thanks throwaway and miltah for the responses.

Engagement ring will likely not be up for the next 2-ish years which is why i am OK with going for a bigger budget for a promise ring.

Will take note on si1 from bluenile.

Would it be advisable to go to JP on my 1.2k budget or jamesallen/jewellery chains? Cause it seems like JPs offerings are more for deeper pockets

Thanks once again.

You can try HOuse of Hung n see what they have

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4008452.htm

Here’s a white flash expert selection 0.3H SI1, it’s $820 gst included n delivered, then u just add a setting course locally

You can see the inclusions magnified but in real life it’s hard to see. But if u check the SI1 on bluenile, some can be quite bad.

HOH and JP are ‘family’, they sell all range of diamonds and can even bring in for you those diamonds you see on bluenile / James Allen as majority of those listings are from an online ‘inventory’ which are available to most dealers, bascially, JP can probably ship the same diamond u see from BN/JA into Singapore and sell you cheaper than the price listed on BN/JA. - however this practice was based on couple years ago, I’m not so sure if they still do this anymore considering their business seems to be gotten alot more busier, no harm asking tho.

Alternative, have u considered lab grown diamonds by light box? (Owned by de beers), apparently they caused the lab grown diamond prices down by a lot over the past months (about 400-800 USD for 0.5-1CT) however do note that their cut quality is only at around ‘VG’.

Got my 3D pics! Would like some opinion.. Deciding between these 2 designs. The first one is the original design that I wanted with the 4 pointed prongs.

They suggested to make it into a bezel setting instead so that the Octagon will look more like a star. I like this design more. The only downside is they said the serial number of the diamond will be blocked. So cannot see the serial number anymore. The only way to verify the diamond is to match the inclusion from the AGS cert. Do you guys think it's ok?

dont waste money get pre engagement ring. but u can consider getting a wedding band in advance where its cheap+simple enough and can be used for actual wedding/after-ish.
