I see.
However, based on my budget, which is more suitable for me to go with?
1. HOH
2. JannPaul
3. Micheal Trio and some others

If those are your options, with a budget of 2.5-3k, I think you are best to go with HOH or M trio

What camera did you use? How did u get a photo of those 8 black arrows so clearly? :)

I used a camera phone. You mean this photo?
The camera needs to be directly in front of the diamond. It took me awhile to get that shot. Its easier to take the photo in a darker area with no strong or bright lights. The diamond will sparkle too much when the light is strong. Then need to play around with the angle. The arrows are something like shadows. Need to get a straight angle and no light interference. Have fun and good luck!

I tried taking photos of my sis's diamond ring. No matter what angle I tried, the arrows are not obvious at all. It probably depends on how good the cutting is too.

From JP blog:
The 8 distinct black arrows when you view a diamond from the front is known as the “Head Shadow Star”. It is the reflection of the observer’s head which blocks the light source. In essence, the Heart Shadow Star is the reflection of the observer’s head (or it could be your phone in this case)

Your stone is 1.
Solasfera is a modern cut, it is what it is.
If u want to compare past JP ASET, then it’s really nit-picking

This is my attempt. Managed to get a good shot on the 1st pic but one of the arrows didnt get that shadow reflection. The 2nd pic I got all the arrows but got flare.. diamond photos really not easy to take.. haha

HCA score of 0.8. Is it too low a rock for a ring?

Not sure what u seeing.
If u view thru the scope and quite symmetrical as you say but cannot even see arrows.. then what kind of symmetry are u seeing?

The specs dun look great. But might be passable for ideal

I can see the arrows, but not 'blackened' as photographed like the super ideal/ideals.

Not black arrows is fine.

Based on the chart, your stone is outside the ideals. HCA can only reject, should not be used to accept.
It’s a fairly good price if u can accept the quality

Thanks sensei. Just did a look at the chart, I was looking a few others that falls within the ideals.

What will be a good worksteps to have a good judgement whether it is a good rock?

1) Check cert for basic info (Triple Exc, Clarity e.t.c)
2) Check HCA
3) Check Heart & Arrow table
4) Check Scope images for symmetry and any light leakages
5) Of coourse.. price...

I think you got it most covered already. Pay more attention to the scope images for light leakages, especially the ASET.

You can start with Canary at Delfi Orchard
Then walk down to JP and House of Hung
Then walk to lucky plaza to Huen Diamond, Taka m other chains
Then jewellery street in Ion - Lee Hwa, ChowTF, FairyInc n other chains
If U wanna walk to Somerset, u can even go Orchard central to look at some man made diamonds - Orro

Will be heading down M Trio and Jannpaul (Again, as forgot that appointment is needed), I know about JP's cuts, how's M Trio's cut and pricing compares?

Poh Kim can I say that it is a hit or miss, may be able to find good cut at reasonably better price?
