Hi guys! Would like to hear some of your advice/opinions, pls. I am currently considering between a;

a) Super ideal cut, 0.8ct - $8300
b) Ideal cut, 0.9ct - $7800 (Estimated)

Both are from JannPaul, prices are for diamond alone

Based on these mere figures alone, which one would y'all go for? Thanks in advance!

If u see no difference then take the ideal

Just on numbers, why pay more for a smaller stone if there’s no difference to u
SIC - $10,375 per caret
Ideal - $8,666 per caret

Bought this super ideal cut. Any feedback? Diamond looked great when I saw in the store. Visited 4 shops before going back to JP. Finding diamond is such a tiring process!

Thanks @milthan & @CaptainFantastic for your advice few months back :D

The ring is finally here and while my gf loves it, my wallet is feeling the pain everyday...:s22::s22::s22:

Congratulations and this is such an amazing ring!
And it's also the exact ring design I am looking for too, white gold with 9 diamonds exposed on each side, 4 prongs with no handles between the prongs. So glad what I had in mind looks great, thank you so much for sharing images of your ring.

The only difference is our budget. Ha! I'm looking at about half of what you spent, and JP has showed me a 0.8x(forgot the exact size)

From what I've gathered from all the past sharings by the very generous members, I should be looking at a:
-G
-VS1/2
-size 0.8 onwards, under $8500

Question: not too sure about ideal or super ideal yet, I'm guessing I need to see it physically to judge? Anything else I should look out for? I'm keeping everything under 10k, so 1500 for the ring and 8500 for the diamond

To me, JP's SIC pictures all look the same.. got not much variation. They will already filter them out to be perfect or else it won't be in their SIC range already.

I got their Solasfera cut :)

Thanks for the help, guys! In the end, I narrowed down to this.

0.81ct, ideal cut, D, VS1. Triple excellent but with medium blue fluorescence.

Measurement: 5.91x5.95x3.72
Depth:62.7%
Table:56%
Crown: 35.5
Pavilion:40.8

Was quoted $7.2k at JP for diamond alone. Is it worth the price?

The HCA is 2.6. IMO, I rather drop the color and improve the cut.

Go there and judge yourself. Request for them to bring outside the shop to see the diamonds. IMO, the ideal cut on its own is not bad. Only when you compare it with the better super ideal one, then you will be fomo. Anyway with your budget, you can the Super ideal specs you want. The only qn is whether they have stock or not. Last I was there, they have very few 0.8 left in the Super ideals.

JP setting with diamonds on the band is $1,100. You will have enough budget for the SIC. You can look for Avery. She was good in helping with my design.

Read back the pages. The shortcut is to go JP for their lesson. They need 4 weeks to make a ring. Though they might be able to do it in 2 weeks time. You better check and get started soon.

I’ve never heard anyone getting it done in 2wks with JP, especially with their crafter in HK. No harm trying.
Your next best bet are ready made ones given the timeline

Its the 99 facets, 10 hearts n arrows one. See your taste on which you prefer. Although the SIC got bigger fire, I like the many glitzy effect of the Solasfera. No matter which angle I see the diamond, it will have at least 1-3 sparks. SIC got bigger sparks but not as many.

This is my ring

Hi guys, I purchased an ideal cut diamond from JP however in their email correspondence confirmation with me, it was stated as "Diamond Type: Triple Excellent". Just wanted to hear if this is correct?

An ideal cut is also a triple excellent

The official GIA cert will only state Triple Excellent. Ideal or Super Ideal Cut is JP's own classification. SIC will be marketed under JP, the rest marketed under HOH.

As long as the GIA cert number tallies, ok.

Hi all, I'm deciding on the Octagon 0.74 E VVS1 and 0.76 D VS1. Which one will you pick? How do I post the scope photos?

No visual difference in size, color, clarity and probably price too as u trade color n clarity.

I wouldn’t pick either as I dun like high color n clarity. But if those are your choices, then just see which appeals to your eye
