It's probably because it's abv 0.7? They did share that as per industry standards, the price wld differ quite a bit from the lower c once it's that range and abv. What cut is it?
Your stone probably have slightly better specs, and yeah, 0.7 is the next significant jump in prices after 0.5, these may be the reasons why your price are much higher than his.

Kino
The specs were the same, E and VS1.
9k+ was just the stone or including setting?
It could be the price jump in 0.7 range. Just like how 0.9x and 1.0x differences in price is 2k+.

saw this on someone's blog. so pretty![]()
wow that looks like a very big diamond! 1.5 carat ++?
Hmm it looks like an halo design? Or my eyes playing me.
Honestly, if cannot tell the difference, I would get the ideal diamond instead (probably will save at least 1.5-2k vs a super ideal). Can use the savings to do a nice ring setting.
I have also been looking at other websites (pricescope etc, saw KinoChoco there!), and if you show them these scopes, they will tell you that it is a very nice diamond. Which it is. Honestly, having looked through some of the posts on other websites, even the experts there have a much higher tolerance for what constitutes a good diamond. If you go and look at websites that provide ASET images like whiteflash, GoodOldGold etc, and look at their top of the range premium diamonds, they will look similar or worse than the ideal diamond you have, and probably be similar price or even higher).
I've looked at a number of websites, and so far, I have not been able to find a diamond in similar price and quality to what JP offered me. The fact that your diamond was not accepted as JP super ideal stock goes to show how stringent their quality control is, because in any other establishment, it would have been regarded as a very good diamond which can be placed in premium stock.
looks like you spent a lot of time on diamond research
anyway, I got an ideal from HoH as well as I couldn't tell the difference.. used the savings to buy sth else for her instead.
one thing I realised after getting the ring was that now my wedding band looks like an afterthought. somemore, mine is 4 prong compass orientation... there was no way the 2 rings could flush together.
since you're still designing your engagement ring, perhaps you want to give that a thought as well.
cheers!

Actually I only started researching about 2 weeks ago
But it is quite fun to try and find a good diamond that is value for money.
Regarding stacking the engagement ring with the wedding ring, you're right, sometimes it will get blocked. Can ask JP to design with that in mind (and I think I saw before a render they did with a stacked wedding ring).
For the 4 prong compass setting, can actually stack it flush if the diamond is set higher to create some space along the band for the wedding ring to sit flush. Will have a tiny bit of clearance for the south prong.
If you set any small gemstones below the diamond facing forward and back, confirm cannot stack a wedding ring because the gemstone will rub against the wedding ring and either the wedding ring will be very scratched, gemstone will chip, or both.
Btw for anyone interested in a HOH ideal, there is a relatively cheap 1+ carat G VS2 HOH ideal diamond that I passed on, might be a good deal for the right person!
Woah bro, upgraded?
I think I raised this previously, but someone else mentioned that his was based on calendar year regardless of date of receipt of card. Thx for sharing!Hi all, just to share with you guys who are using UOB One card for the rebate, do check with UOB with regards to the start of your quarter as it varies depending on when you got your card. I paid a deposit back in June, only to find out that my quarter starts in July to September. What a bummer!! Not going to be able to spend enough over the next few months to get the 5% rebate. Have to drop to 3.33%.![]()

Yah correct ah it should be based on calendar year quarter, isn't it all consistent?

I think UOB One card is the best now for cashback if you have time to go to JP to pay 2k every month. If don't have enough time to break into monthly 2k payments, alternative would the Amex True Cashback (if new customer, 3% cashback on first $5000, then 1.5% cashback thereafter without any spending limit), or go for any miles card.
