u can try Lovis, but from what I see their HCA scores are not consistent, can range from 1 to above 2

u shld read below..

I see alot of ppl posting alot about hca hca hca... Hca is not everything guys.

Its only for eliminating out the bad diamonds. Bad diamonds can still have good hca results. But if a diamond have a bad hca result, it confirms that the diamond is bad. To really check the quality, you need to use the ideal, aset and hearts and arrows scopes too.

See the second half of the video. Diamond with good HCA can still look like that.

Hi guys. I have roughly a 3k budget for a ring. Where would you guys hunt with this budget? For Jann Paul with this budget I think only can get damn small ring.

I was looking at Blue Nile Diamonds, and James Allen as well. It seems Blue Nile got some reviews not so good, as the QC is not that stringent. Will probably go with James Allen for now.

Any other suggestions guys?

3k should get a Super Ideal cut 0.4ct+ with the ring.. If you want bigger, it can get a 0.5ct+ but need to sacrifice on the Cut quality. Bluenile and James Allen dont sell Super Ideal Cuts. They have Good to at most 'Ideal' cut. Though their standard of Ideal cut is set by their own criteria. And they dont have the full range of scopes either. So you can't really compare their Ideal cuts with a Super Ideal cut.. the quality is not the same.

But bear in mind, the cut will make the diamond look visually bigger :)

Hmmm.. that's a good idea actually. Can keep it the diamond as a surprise and let her choose the design.
How long do they usually take to make the ring?

they told me it will take 1-2 weeks for them to do the 3D design and 4-8 weeks to craft it depending on the final design. Best is to start earlier so it allows you more time to change the design if needed.

This was what JP quoted me in December.
0.41 G VVS2 $2,750
0.42 F VVS1 $3,050

Pretty sure you can get a bigger diamond if you go for lower clarity.

By right have eh.
Like example solasfera have 3.

Solasfera authencity cert.
AGS cert.
GEMEX light performance report.

Super ideal should have the GIA cert.

Dropped by JP and checked with them, turns out they'll only have certification for 0.3ct and above. My rings were all less than 0.3, so no certificates. :s13: Good information to know. :)

My engagement ring was a single rock on a simple band, 0.22 or 0.23ct. $1.5k, did not customise at all. My husband just bought on the spot and left the shop with it. :s13: One of the better grades I think, and near colourless.

Wedding bands $1.5k for a pair, no customisations either. Just two simple bands. His has one tiny rock in the centre, mine has a row of tiny rocks.

Feel that the wedding bands are a little expensive for so simple design. I asked no design no gems and was also quoted around 1.5k :s22:

Depends on budget and taste la. For my engagement ring I told my husband to spend maximum $1.5k on it, and gave him a picture of the design I liked, so he just went with it lol.

Does this include the 18k normal setting @ $550 or something?

Went to both jp and meyson nex and found that the level of attention and explanation to be better at meyson. They even showed us the laser engraving on the diamond girdle using a big lcd tv :s11:
Comparing the diamond shown to us, the jp SIC was more bling than meyson's starr. Price was specs wise meyson had better colour whereas jp had better clarity. Jp showed us a loose diamond whereas meyson showed us a completed ring.
Price wise meyson is much cheaper. I had assumed that the price didnt include the ring. Pleasant surprise.
Headache now choose the one giving blinger diamond or better service at the counter :s22:

I went to Meyson b4 too. Not all of them diamonds are GIA certified though.. some are certified by this other company. SI something... never heard of them before. Did Meyson have the Ideal and ASET scope? I don't recall them having those. Cut wise, JP is definitely better. Color and clarity not that impt to me cos it won't affect the bling. As a girl, I pay more attention to the sparkles =:p Maybe you can share the certificates of both for the pros here to compare for you.

Jp shows the laser engraving on the diamond on a screen too. They showed it to me after I check the diamond with the scopes and decided on it. I think that is standard practice for shops.. If not how you know that is really the diamond you're buying? :s13:

Meyson has the hearts and arrow scope but not the others. Im comparing the starr ones with sic. Starr definately has cert for 0.3 or larger. Unfortunately we didnt note the cert details. The cert no on the diamond was shown without us having to ask for it. And we didnt say we are buying it :s13:
