Hi all,

Which Colour and clarity is decent to get for a diamond size above 0.5ct?

F-G Color, VS1-VS2 if you're 'economical' buyer, get better specs if you care about owning a 'higher' grade diamond which doesn't really affect the look much in rl but just to feel and sound nicer of owning a superior color and clarify diamond haha.

But cut i'll recommend super ideal unless budget constraint. e.g. if you can only afford a 0.3 super ideal, i'll rather you get a 0.4-0.5 ideal.

Thanks for the input.

Anyone here bought halo setting ring before? Which would be an ideal carat size? And would it be better to get solasfera or Super ideal, given that there are side diamonds

Thanks in advance!

I think for a halo setting, a 0.5 will already look quite big. IMO in order to fully appreciate the 10 hearts and arrow of solasfera, the diamond needs to be big (1ct++) in order to see the contrast of the arrow better...in a smaller diamond, it looks kind of ''messy', my female friends shared the same opinion with me.

I think halo setting looks quite messy and obscures the quality of the centerpiece diamond, but that's just my individual preference. Some girls who are more into vintage designs would probably love it.

My opinion regarding round brillant vs solasfera is uhh more pragmatic. For the price of solasfera, can get a significantly larger round brillant... Depends on whether your girl can appreciate the beauty of a solasfera! If to her a nice diamond is a nice diamond, then might as well get a larger size round brillant for the same price because that will be more of a visible difference.

Different strokes for different folks :)

Just chose a design to proceed with 3D rendering today, hopefully it turns out as envisioned in my head :s13:
Relatively simple design compared to some of the rings I've seen on this thread

Didn't take photos and didn't sketch it out, the 3D render will only be ready in 2 weeks' time. Will post it here to share when it's ready!

Icic, anyway i got till departure date to decide. Buying at airport transit can save 7%

May I know where are you buying from and the quality and price of the cut / diamond? Hoping you don't overpay for a brand where the cut might not be as good

Compare the final price that you're paying for. I compared diamond prices in airport before. It was still higher than the super ideal cuts i was quoted even after saving on the tax. Summore the cut wasn't as good.

Yeah that's why I was asking him about the cut and brand - if he's going for the 'brand' then yeah at least save the tax lor

Yup im going for brand instead. Getting TnC ring

You do know Tiffany and co are not very very strict with their 'ideal' cut criteria yeah? Meaning to say, you do stand a chance of getting a diamond double of JP's price for the same quality or even lower quality if you're unlucky. Unless you have a ASET scope on you haha!

Put it in another way, you could probably get a 0.6-7 super ideal from JP, which likely it's more brilliant and more sparkles than TnC and more importantly, it's bigger. The diamond will do the talk on the clear winner, unless both of you are going to tell everyone the ring is from TnC to have the 'wow' factor else JP's diamond will win for sure haha. Just sharing some opinions, but if both of you already decided that the brand is the top priority, then go ahead.

Ya I know that but just looking at brand instead of going for specs.
