hmmm... i was considering if I should downgrade from E to F and VS1 to VS2 with a price difference of S$900. My friends are telling me that its not worth.

humm 900 dollars in percentage would be how much cheaper?

Quite common amongst my friends to wear both the engagement ring and wedding band.

What I do is to send my gf ring photos and gauge what her likes/dislikes are, then I can make an educated guess on the ring design and still keep it (relatively) a surprise!

Lately, I find myself paying attention to girls hands in public and see what ring they wear and if they got where together

I'm waiting for JP to send me my ring 3d design in 2 weeks. Did you customize your ring?

Depends, if your diamond is 1 Carat and above, then maybe i'll keep E. but if it's below 1 Carat, 900 (assuming it's 10% of 9k), i might drop to F and use the money for higher carat size or for wedding band.

It is below 1 carat and I don't intend to up the carat size.

thats quite alot imo. i would downgrade if it is a solitaire setting. if you have side stones differences in colour might become more apparent, so a better colour would be good. wedding band got any diamonds?

It will be with halo setting and twisted side diamond. Still considering on the wedding band as I have gemstone below the diamond and it may scratch the wedding band.

IMO, with a halo setting, don't need to be a top grade color and clarity diamond, because visually it will look like a lot of things are going on, and the colour and clarity of the diamond will be rather obscured.

But this is the opinion of a person who hates halo settings, so take with a pinch of salt lah haha.

I feel that the halo setting overshadows the main diamond. But it's good to have a halo if you wna enhance the overall size of the ring. A bit flashy for daily wear imo.

I feel it's the reverse. With so many diamonds any colour on the main diamond will get magnified.

Partly also because JP uses high grade D-F melees for the sides hahaha.

In this case i'll recommend Secretyt to stick with E and not downgrade to F.

yeah 6 prong. do you have a picture that i can view?

my SO prefers something simple and classy. haha. even a slightly twisted band at the stone is too complicated for her.

6 prongs, cathedral setting, the band is a knife edge design with a slight taper.

Its classic and pretty! I went for the same design too (cathedral & 6 prong) but added a little carved out heart
