Hi, i have just visited jann paul to take a look at proposal ring. The sales person quoted me 8.3k without the setting for the following specs:

0.78 carat super ideal cut, F VVS2
62% depth 56% table 35 crown angle and 40.6 pavillion angle

Setting is about 800 to 1k.

Is it a reasonable buy?

Did you look through the scope? how do you find it?
JP has very strict criteria for their super ideal cut, so shouldn't be a problem.
price i believe is about there too.

I just checked with uob. To qualify need to swipe 3x in a month for a total of 2k. Cannot 1x wk swipe.

Do you know if JP allows that? E.g. 1k, 500, 500. a month.

Do that for 3 months consecutively.

If time is not a concern, use the UOB one card. Every month you can make a 2k charge to your card for 3 months to hit the mximum 5% cash rebate. Only downside is you need to finish fully paying your ring the can collect.

Yup JP allows you to break up your payments, as long as you clear all the payments before you collect the ring. Just go down every month to swipe. But this means you need to plan ahead because you may need more time before you can collect the ring for proposal (e.g. if 6k, need to swipe 2k per month over 3 months etc).

Jerichoo and barcarox81, both of your diamonds look great! Like what many have said, the diamonds selected by JP and labelled by them as super ideal are always top quality so the scope images are definitely superb. Don't need to worry too much when picking from the JP stocks, whether the standard round brilliant or the other premium cuts. Quality is there :s13:

For me, my diamond purchasing experience has come to an end, just collected my ring! :D

I didn't get any photos from JP so I took out my camera for some fun. Don't have a pro light tent or lighting setup so unfortunately the lighting is far from ideal, please forgive the yellow and blue tints from the halogen and LED lighting that I scrounged up!

Just do 2k one shot, the other 2 transactions just buy something from supermarket.

I'm looking for a diamond ring, 0.8 ct, round or cushion cut, with quality cert.

Budget is from $4-8k.

Any bros has any recommendations on where I can purchase it? Thanks.

For your budget, if you want a 0.8 ct, I think Jannpaul's super ideal and brellia range is abit out of budget. Maybe look at the ideal range rounds and princess cuts at House of Hung, check out White Dwarf or buy online from one of the more well known retailers (Whiteflash, Brian Gavin Diamonds etc). Should be able to get a 0.8 ct round or cushion cut GIA triple excellent or AGS triple ideal for that budget, just a little bit lower than the optical symmetry on JP's super ideal range. If you want a Brellia I think Jannpaul's one of the few places that carry it though. Normal round brilliant and princess cuts should be easy to find.

You're welcome :) I'm a UOB fan and always clocking their credit cards. haha. EDIT: Oh yes, please double check on your current statement period before you make your first transaction, if you're a new UOB member, you might get pro rated and might not necessary get to clock all 3 months. I forgot how they calculate the 'quarterly' for new UOB One member, this you might want to cross check with them.

If your choice is super ideal, there's no need to look at the scopes, it's all perfect (Confirm that with your naked eyes, ALL super ideal will look and bling the same due to their super strict criteria.)

All you've to decide now is the Color, Clarity and your ring design.

Personally, I'll go for a slightly lower Clarity VS1-VS2 as these are already eye clean and perhaps use the savings for a bigger diamond or on the ring setting (but it also depends on diamond stock availability)

As for the Color, E is very good, i would say it will be perfectly icy white even if her friends are wearing the best D color, nobody will be able to see the different in color unless they compare it professionally under certain angle and certain lighting and it'll still be damn tough...anyway i don't think friends will do that :s13:

Hey bros, I chanced upon this online diamond jeweler - JamesAllen

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/all-diamonds/

Their diamonds seem to be reasonably priced with good 4C's quality as well. Their diamonds also comes with GIA and AGS certificates upon purchase.

1) Any bros heard of this brand/website before? Any reviews or advise whether I should be looking at online webstores?

2) On a side note, my gf's ring finger size is around 4.5cm in circumference (around a US size 3.5). Do I go on to buy a US size 4 instead in case the size 3.5 does not fit into the finger after the finger-joint at all?

Don't forgot to add in 7% GST payable by you after shipped to you, the risk of not seeing the diamond in person, sizing, upgrading policy etc. The few hundreds of saving might not be worth it (and their signature cut is not as strict as JP's) so there's a good chance you might be getting something not as superior.

You've to decide yourself whether if it's worth it :s13::s12:
