Hey bros, I chanced upon this online diamond jeweler - JamesAllen

https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/all-diamonds/

Their diamonds seem to be reasonably priced with good 4C's quality as well. Their diamonds also comes with GIA and AGS certificates upon purchase.

1) Any bros heard of this brand/website before? Any reviews or advise whether I should be looking at online webstores?

2) On a side note, my gf's ring finger size is around 4.5cm in circumference (around a US size 3.5). Do I go on to buy a US size 4 instead in case the size 3.5 does not fit into the finger after the finger-joint at all?

Ya concur with what KinoChoco said. For me, I think the ease of resizing is quite a big factor. If you have to ship the completed ring back to US for resizing, it is quite a hassle because you need to fill out quite a number of forms for customs etc, risk of it being lost in shipping etc. A little bit cheaper than buying locally, but you lose out on the after-sales service you would get if you buy locally.

If you really don't mind not having the after sales service and are dead sure on the sizing, then I suppose you can consider buying online to save some money. Alternatively, can also buy just the diamond and do the setting at a local jeweller. But for both options I don't think it will be much less compared to local pricing.

Jerichoo and barcarox81, both of your diamonds look great! Like what many have said, the diamonds selected by JP and labelled by them as super ideal are always top quality so the scope images are definitely superb. Don't need to worry too much when picking from the JP stocks, whether the standard round brilliant or the other premium cuts. Quality is there :s13:

For me, my diamond purchasing experience has come to an end, just collected my ring! :D

I didn't get any photos from JP so I took out my camera for some fun. Don't have a pro light tent or lighting setup so unfortunately the lighting is far from ideal, please forgive the yellow and blue tints from the halogen and LED lighting that I scrounged up!

Thanks! It's a 1.10 G/VS2. Gonna take some more photos in better lighting. I also realised there is SO MUCH DUST AND LINT when I zoomed in

IMO, JP is really one of the places that you won't tio carrot. I think their prices are pretty fair for what their extremely stringent criteria (which are actually more strict that other famed retailers in the diamond industry). Anyway, they have an internal price sheet (and apparently their sales staff don't take commissions), so the price they give is usually quite standard and the sales staff don't try to upsell.

Could be due to currency fluctuations. Diamond trading usually based on USD if I'm not wrong

Hi guys,

Need an opinion here.

1. solasfera 0.84 VVS1, G color
2. octagon 0.84 VS2 F color
3. super ideal cut 0.84 VS1 F color

Personally, I prefer 1 because it is shiny and round.
The only issue i am facing is that G color is below my expectation of F color.
Can anyone share with me your thoughts on this? Or if i should look for super ideal cut or octagon instead?

Thanks

Personally i think you should consider more of which of these 3 will your other half prefer, they look different IMO.

Solasfera - less contrast and more messy (altho more bling) due to the the fact of high facet count hence the 'arrow' is tinier and less contrast...unless you're getting a 1.5ct above which then the arrow might be slightly thicker haha.

Octagon - Not round...since you mentioned u want a round one

Super Ideal - Standard perfect round with balance of contrast and bling

Like what Kino mentioned, I think it really depends which one you think your girl will love more.

If she's one that likes to be unique and stray away from mainstream, I think the Octagon would suit her personality since it's not the traditional brilliant round.

If she's more classic and prefer simplicity, the Super Ideal won't go wrong.

As for the Solasfera, it really depends on individual. Some love the bling while some find the look messy. But considering your carat weight, I think it will be fine!

Hmm I think F and G really not much diff. Although i understand that some might prefer their diamond to belong to the 'colourless' band. One thing about the Solasfera is that it really is crazy sparkly and can mask the G colour if it really bothers you.

Which is better? The brellia or octagon?

Neither is necessarily better than the other... Just a different style.

IMO, Brellia is more vintage looking and the octagon is more futuristic looking. Maybe can take reference from whether your gf likes vintage styles or more modern looks in terms of dress sense?
