In what way lower? And would it be dicerning obvious?
Looking at the common triple excellent vs JP’s SIC in the “magnified” video, the differences while there, are not that obvious. In real life like you said earlier might only be 10-15% difference.

Granted I agree there’s variations in WHiteflash ACAs, but I feel the visual differences will be even less. If u can’t notice the difference then u are only paying more for something u can’t see.

The question is, even if it’s a lower quality than a Jp SIC, would u see a difference in the video (if we did not consider scope images)

I believe its all about the perception in your eyes. Just like how you might be ok with a K color, doesn't mean that everyone is ok. My gf can see the difference in F and G even in blind test and insist the diamond must be F or better.

Color was not discussed in the video. And I agree with u there, but the video was purely looking at the diamond face up and the cut quality

But the question remains, would u see a difference between a white flash aca vs JP sic in terms of cut? Or is it only better on paper

Hmmm.. I dont know about whiteflash aca. Though in the video, the Super ideal cut in the middle does look better. The Ideal cut and Super ideal cut scopes looks abt the same to me. I'm not sure why the left is an ideal cut in the first place. So Im sure there might be more to it than that.

Im using the Color as an analogy to your cut. Like if you cant see or acceptable to low colors, doesnt mean that others cant see. Just like you cant see cut difference, doesnt mean others cant see either.

I think it is true for color. The more u see different diamonds the more you can pick up color. Like the more wine u drink, u can tell shxx wine
But with cut, especially small sizes... I find it hard to see the difference.

My personal view is that if going for ACA, find a high ACA, if not, rather get ideal from JP as it’s cheaper.

U get what I mean yeah haha, ACA probably is only tiny bit cheaper than JP but no after sale services like resizing or free repolishings which may add up to hundreds and I heard the ring setting there are a lot more expensive.

Oh and also since I work near JP, I can head down to swipe my credit card monthly to achieve 5% rebate off my whole purchase due to card rebates.

I like your analogy of wine. So the cure is to drink less wine... or see less diamonds :s13:

I tried to search for their videos with smaller diamonds. This is for 0.3ct.. Though you can say they are magnified in the video. Perhaps the best way is just to ask them for the smaller sizes and compare them in-person.

I found another video using melee diamond sizes. Might not be very relevant since its comparing the SIC and Solasferas. But those babies really bling man

.

Yup I know exactly what u mean. But would disagree on that point.
I’m currently bringing one in, but set locally.
As others have pointed out, could always set at HOH for $600 with after sales service but yeah u do lose out on credit card points

I tot u can’t set for 600 without purchasing diamond there, pricing would be 1k+ for a simple setting, no?

“They charged us 600 for 18k gold and also gave us the CAD design + 1-time resizing. Their service is good as well!”

This was from throwawaygrad’s reply on their James Allen diamond set at HOH

For anyone keen to look for a potential hearts and arrows on their own. Note this is only an exclusion criteria, falling inside the zone means there’s more chance for it to be a super ideal cut but needs more info for verification

Actually i've always been a little confused with something. I notices that it's actually not hard to achieve H&A on the H&A scope (almost all jeweller has their own H&A brand), however, most of the time if u put these diamonds under ASET, they are no where near the kind of ASET light performence we see from JP.

If this is the case isnt it that ASET scope is a must to check to ensure we're paying super ideal premium for an actual super ideal stone? :/

That’s correct. Taking crown angle as an example, even if the GIA states 34.5 degrees, it’s a rounded off figure. In a poorly cut stone, you might get a variation of 34.3 to possibly 34.7 for the different corners

So yes, I agree you need aset. If you check back all the threads you kinda notice that JP has more hits at 34.5 crown with 40.8 pavilion. But for the general pple looking ard, a lot of 3ex are not even at this angles, thus it’s like HCA, it can be a great exclusion criteria when u shop around as opposed to trying to calculate the HCA at the shop

The idealscope or hearts scope only show optical precision when cutting and does not show light performance. But a stone that does not have optical precision are less likely to have good light performance

The crown is made up of many facets; star facet, upper main facet and upper girdle facet. The crown angle is only the generic average value of all these facets. The pavilion angle is made up of a few facets too. All in all, it only roughly shows the basic info but not everything.

Summary - must use ASET scope

Does anyone have recommendation for wedding band? Is Felice at toa payoh a good idea for wedding band? I got quoted 2000 for this set at JP not sure if it's costly, deciding to seek a 2nd opinion. 2000 is after discount as we bought our engagement ring there...

Those are pretty good finds.

I would eliminate the first one.
Toss up between the 0.80 vs 0.93.
Both have slight issues with the hearts but could just be how the image was taken. I would look at the certs before deciding
But if I had to pick it would be the 0.80 even though its flat caret weight.

The scope images were so so. Out of the 3, I would pick the 0.80 F VS1 too. But based on the proportions, its not fantastic. The depth is too long and the crown angle is too steep. I hope they didn't say this is a Super Ideal Cut..

No its not. I'm just hunting around and the opinions of the users here are fantastic
