I marked your stone out, like I said it’s not an inclusion tool.

But to be honest, for the right price, it’s not a bad stone. I’ve seen much worse.

Because of the depth, if you compared to super ideal, you will notice that by measurement it’s smaller (less than 1mm)

No its not. I'm just hunting around and the opinions of the users here are fantastic

1 tip for you, since all these are not in-house diamonds, get the cert number to JP and they can probably quote you cheaper than all those online dealers e.g WF/BN after taxes for these diamonds you found online. (Let them know the prices u see online so they will counter accordingly)

What is the right price for the Stone in your opinion?

What is the right price for the Stone in your opinion?

Based on JP SIC, we know from past quotes that their stone will likely sell for $8-9k. There is not enough price quotes for a HOH ideal but it’s said to trade at 10-15% lower.

The closest match I could find:
- Whiteflash ACA 0.79 F VS2: $6140 (delivered, after gst)
- Brian Gavin Black 0.83 G VS2: $6435 (after gst, u need to ask/wait for free shipping)
- Blue Nile will have 0.8F VS1 starting $5-5.5k (haven’t add gst)

Your stone could be considered in the low $5k, but frankly I would pay abit more for the specs I want.

While JP can pull stones off virtual inventory from dropshippers like Bluenile but they can’t pull in-house stones from WF/BGD. It’s like saying, I saw a stone at Lee Hwa, can u bring it in and sell me cheaper

Sorry to trouble you. But are there any specs that I should look out for other than the ideal. Scope and aset?

I’ve already given a chart on complementary crown and pavilion angles
I’ve also told u the most common hit rates for JP SIC
For depth you can aim 60-62%
As for table, you can aim for 54-58% (noting that a SIC can fall within that range with a smaller table favouring fire while a bigger table favours brilliance and white light return. A bigger table will also make the stone appear slightly larger).

At the end of the day, with specs u might end up being a keyboard warrior all day. U need to know the specs n see the corresponding stone to know what u like.

Why I said that your previous stone was not bad? Would u have noticed in real life that the stone was 0.4% more deep or that it was less than 1mm smaller? Just like color and clarity, would u pay more if u can’t tell the difference between a VS1 vs VS2 ?

People who buy into JP SIC just like they buy into Whiteflash or Brian Gavin are buying into a brand. The stone u found while not bad is not ‘branded’ (plus it is also slightly off in the specs)

Whether anot you can see the difference in cut of ideal vs SIC is personal and I can’t answer that for u.

The other problem of looking at stats is that GIA does a bigger rounding of values as opposed to AGS.
So yes, that’s why u still need scope and ASET

Was quoted at 6.9k though

White flash or jann Paul is better in terms of pricing. I understand that jp might be better because it's physical shop is here

I’ve given u pricing examples.
Others have commented that external diamonds can be sized and set at HOH for $600. JP you get all the benefits of a shop with physical viewing, the best cut and possibly credit card points. U have to decide for yourself.

Thanks for all the comments everyone! We went back to JP last weekend to put a deposit on a 0.73 F VS2. This is the scope pics. Is it ok?

Trust the thread here and check out House of Hung at Orchard. I too was lost earlier last month but have no regrets choosing House of Hung. Even with a tight budget they'll do their best to get the best value diamond for you. If you want can try out the other spots like Venus Tears or Poh Kim first (personally liked the service at both shops as well) but I feel after seeing HoH diamonds that's probably your best bet.

Just made a visit to JP last Saturday. Was shown SIC for .3 - .4 range. Was wondering if I intend to get a carat that is less than .5, will a poor clarity and Color be obvious? Coz I was keen on getting the .41, D, VVS2. Will it be an overkill for a small diamond.

Just curious, is the jump from G to F very obvious? Dun get to see any G. Was only shown F and above with my given Budget.

What other considerations or stones were shown?
When u were shown the F did u notice the color difference from the D?
What carat and clarity was the F stone?

I do notice that the color is a bit more dull and more yellowish for F as compared with D side by side.

As for the F stone I was shown 0.42ct, F and VS1.
