Is it ok to bring gf along to buy proposal ring? She said she doesn't like the diamond part that protrudes out, she likes flush kind. Not sure what kind is she talking about.

How do you measure the size of your gf finger without her noticing?

If she has clear idea of what she wants, you guys can go together. Tbh it's fun to shop together, girls who insist on it being a surprise are missing out imo. 😂

Yes it’s totally fine to bring ur gf along. Cos my bf did that too as he’s afraid he would’ve picked something not up to my liking. And because I’ll be the one wearing it, he wants me to choose something I like. Thankfully he did! 😊 Nowadays not much of surprises anymore esp when most couples BTO first. My bf think very straight one so I don’t expect surprises from him also 😂 But of cos u have to prep yourself also if u were to bring ur gf along like how long will u take to propose? Since ur gf will be choosing the proposal ring tgt w u means she knows ure gonna propose to her soon and she will be expecting it soon. She may also pester or hint to you when u gonna propose hahaa. My bf got the ring last year May but only proposed to me recently and I was like pestering him for months and was also disappointed when he didn’t propose to me on vday or our anniversary cos I thought he would but he did not 😂 But ya.. these are the stuffs you gonna prep urself 😂

I always think it’s good to go tgt to roughly know the expectation or even design the setting together.

As for surprise, surprise with an upgrade of the diamond size ;)

new here.

We don’t have a 0.51ct G color in the VS range at the moment, we have 0.53 G VS1 $4,000 instead.0.47 0.49 we also don’t have available. The highest for the Super Ideal Cut 0.4ct range we have is 0.43. Going into the 0.5ct range, there will be a slight price jump because of the different carat weight category. Hence, the lowest priced for the 0.5ct range will start from $3,900
.

the quote above is according to one staff of JP. I already ordered one from them, but I changed my mind about the size. the one I chose is 0.43 VS1 G, but I feel like its too small. the setting is only plain rose gold, and my gf finger is slim around 48. do you think its worth to upgrade to 0.53 VS1 G. is the size noticeable? thanks

If you find that 0.4x is small and budget is of concern, I’ll suggest look into ideal cut and u can probably get into 0.6x for the price of 0.5 Super ideal.

But surely there’s some differences in size between 0.43 and 0.53.

Getting VVS2 is kinda a waste, VS2 is sufficient, can up your color to F with the money. Well, that’s provided they have stocks and if no, whether you have time to wait for new stocks

Unless you are getting like 2 carats and above then the clarity will probably be an issue. For 0.5 just get the vs2 will do

Pic on the top is my sis’s ring also frm JP 0.43 ct D VVS2 while the ring on the bottom (with swimming pool background) is mine JP 0.52 ct G VS1. Both rings on my finger 44.5 (4.5) size and both diamonds are SIC. TBH cannot really tell the difference though the diamond size. But it’s really kind of waste to get D color and VVS2 cos my diamond G looks very white too hahaa 😂

From the pic I can see the difference, D is definitely preferred. As for size, they are really close. Ring size of 4.5 is small.

Actually really have to see in real life. Pic quite hard to tell. Cos in real life my ring is really white and shiny.

:) I probably will. Just thought there will be some others who had deal with them before who can share their past experiences here.

Btw, what do you think of this diamond? Seems alright to me.

Yeah have to see from real life, based on your photos, your ring is in a better lighting also, looks way whiter than your sister’s ring haha.

Actually in real life normal situation, nobody will notice unless some ass friends suggest to pull out 2 rings side by side and glare into it for 10 seconds, which to be honest, hardly happens lol

Proportions is good though you need to confirm it with the scopes. Its a flat carat size at 0.70. I would pick a 0.6x or 0.7x. 0.70s wont be a good buy. You got to be careful with the SI1 clarity with feather too.

Oh. This is something new to me, why is it better to pick a 0.6x or 0.7x over a flat 0.70 carat?

As mentioned, the stone has potential except that GIA tend to round the lower half to 5%. The optimal is abt 77% but u won’t really know unless it’s a AGS grading. You will find that almost all of JP SIC are at 75% (for gia reports)
The table is fairly wide at 59% which will give more white light return than fire.
All this is of course just talk. U still need scope images.
The other problem is also the lack of the clarity plot to see where the inclusions are located

Personally, I won’t avoid flat caret weights except maybe at 1.0 and 1.5carets. Why do u want to avoid, frankly it only matters if u want to upgrade or sell it. If a jeweller has to take your stone in, repolishing it for example could lose some caret weight, if it drops to the next tier, they lose money. So it’s a lose lose for them. If they offer u a low price at the lower price tier for trade in, u not happy also...
