From this pic, it just looks like there is totally no symmetry at all.
Different coloured areas are all over the place. What diamond is this?

That pict can be an ideal cut tilted 15 degrees each way, and that’s the aset u expect.

How often would someone look at your stone dead centre? They might see it across the table or side glance and notice the sparkles/size. That’s why so long as the aset is great, I’m more tolerant of slight asymmetry.

Wow it’s been really fun reading up all 555 pages of this thread 🤣 found this after my boyfriend decided to bring me to view proposal rings in April this year.

We went around to shop (first stop was Lee Hwa) and eventually chose JannPaul (before I read this thread) cuz the bf was blown away by their service and education.

He placed a deposit to reserve the diamond that I really liked on 20 May 2019 cuz 520 sounds like I love you in Mandarin haha.

No doubt I was very tempted to drop my clarity and colour to up the carat but there are very limited Octagon stocks. Moreover it meant smth to my bf cuz he said that he saw that my face lit up when I saw this diamond (after browsing so many).

I was very moved by some of the guys here who puts in so much effort and doing so much research just to buy a ring for their fiancée :’)

I always thought it will be like drama the guy just randomly buys a ring then pop the question.

Anyway today we just confirmed the design of the ring and I’m so excited to see the wax model soon!

Funnily enough, JP didn’t provide me any scopes of my diamond so I recently requested for them. Hope I’ll get it soon!

Ah yes, agreed! Not many people will look at the stone dead centre. Thank you Miltah for the kind explanation.

Am happy with the stone I'm getting and might post some pics here once I've received it. :)

Oh idk what’s CAD but I’m assuming you’re referring to the 3D renders?

We confirmed on this!

FYI, Canary is not SIC. Some are not even triple EXC or got fluorescence.

Thanks! Hahaha mine is B and my bf is G. We tried BG tgtr and it looked too crowded so we settled with B/G on each side.

Now the headache part is engraving! No idea what to engrave 🙃

Wow!

Mind to share your diamond and ring details? (i.e. size, grade, pricing)

Sure!

Octagon, D, VVS2, 0.658ct.
Diamond: $6650
Settings: $1150 (Amy gave me some discount after I shamelessly asked for it 🤣) white gold 18K with side diamonds of 2pt each. 8 diamonds on each side (to match Octagon)
AGS 104105308001 certified on Mar 28 2019.

Shifus pls help me check inclusions!! Cos got feather but Eugene assured me VVS2 is very safe hahaha. Plus I find that the girdle is thicker than what most ppl have posted :(

Thanks!

It’s a lot cheaper. Nothing wrong with fluorescent.

personally i wouldn't bother to engrave proposal ring, it should be sufficient to just engrave on both the wedding bands instead

Nothing to worry abt with VVS2. The feather is not even at the girdle.
As for the girdle, it’s just the nature of the cut. Octagon’s are cut deeper and have thicker girdles

Depends on perspective bah, i would very much rather the proposal ring be 'clean' haha, no engravings etc. free not necessary required :s13:

Hi all bros/sis,

Please give me some advice on this diamond, Price Scope HCA Cut Advisor Score is only 0.9.

o5Uaici.png

03ho0zv.png

0.763ct
Colour: F
Clarity: VVS1
A CUT ABOVE® Hearts and Arrows Diamond
Wire Price: $6131

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-4120096.htm

Nothing wrong with HCA 0.9, in fact it’s great.
The look ‘average’ is just a new HCA feature.

That stone is ‘penalised’ for having close to max depth 61.9 and a small table. Note however that a small table can be someone’s preference. It’s just that those 2 factors combined will make it look smaller than another ideal cut with a lower depth and wider table. Quite logical.

0.72 F VVS2, $6100 (Ideal)
0.73 E VS1, $6200 (Ideal)
0.72 F, VS1, $7000 (SIC)

These are past JP prices. Your price after GST is $6500+. Benefits of going online is the wider inventory. If I bought online, that’s not a stone I would pick, but to each their own.
