Went down with her to choose, so at least there's no risk to get something she would not like. I think overpowering or not depends a lot on the setting, like halo is a big no in this case, we are going for something a lot simpler.

Proposal Ring below $2.5K

Hello ! I think I have posted before asking if its possible to get a proposal ring with a budget of less than $2.5K (all in)

My gf walked pass SK jewellery and saw a 0.5 Carat diamond ring (all in) at only $2.2K but she doesnt know the specs.

Can I know if there are ready to buy rings within that budget at those Shops like JannPaul mentioned in this forum ? Or would it be better to just buy it at those retail shops like SK Jewellery based on my budget ?

Appreciate all good advise.

A flat 0.5 caret is cut mainly for weight
U can get an ideal cut from HOH all in but it will only be abt 0.4 caret

I am also considering if I should go to Poh Kim Jewellery (Mr Tay). Read that his pricing is pretty reasonable but not too sure about the quality though.

Theres some Jewellery fair at Vivocity currently and seems that there are some promo going on. The retailers at the fair are Lee Hwa and Goldheart to name a few.

Also I know that they are legit with their quality, but is the super ideal cut really that big a deal considering one can barely see difference with the naked eye between SI and I?

If u can barely see a difference then u should go for ideal cut.
If prices for ideal are not that dissimilar to Canary n Trio, then which would u rather pick?

even their ideals is much higher than canary and trio so jp diamonds are better for sure.

You’re not the only one with a shitty camera bro. lol My paint skills even better. We got SA by Casey excellent service. We bothered him for hours and he was Super cool with us. I’m Not Super technically inclined but have done reading. We were comparing JP's Super ideals and ideals and I blind swapped the diamond here and there like centre and left and right my wife picked out the sic instantly each time. My pictures sucks phone taken pics , but honestly the ideals did not look so bad on the Aset just some misalignment and all that. But when we start moving the diamond it’s obvious which one is brighter. The Aset was taken with my phone on the ideals also, can see abit arrows broken and some leakage near centre, can such small problems make so huge of a difference? Under the light box and outside instantly can see. All of them are 1ct all same color can’t remember the clarity..

Overall sic looks much more clean and crisp, holding on for a d Color one for my girl atm

there’s a difference for sure some people can see it immediately some not just take that into consideration if she does end up comparing. value wise cut is still most important. clarity is something you don’t really need such high...
last when i got mine i went to a few more jewelers and their "ideal" is not even "ideal" as spotted by the pros here!

They have been more than accommodating, me and my SO fully enjoyed the experience. Eugene and jann even showed me around their crafting office when my diamond was set in.
These are my pics they took for us. I was there when they were videoing it. Seriously though their precision and quality is amazing!!
Huge shout out to them and all here who recommended JP. I'm a huge fan of them and my wife will soon be a proud owner of the octagon diamond hearts and arrows.
Got the pics just today they’d send the video once it’s done ill post it when i get it!

Great pics! There’s a reason why everyone is going to them. My wife still gets compliments for her ring after so long. After you compare more with outside, the more obvious you can tell on the diamond quality and workmanship of the ring.

Dear all, I getting my wife a second diamond ring, first one was quite pathetic due to Budget. Now with better finance, getting her a second ring. As I read thru and gone to a few stores like Taka, soo Kee and pawn shops, I do prefer to go for size instead for colour and clarity. As Long at normal range colour and clarity will be enough. Any recommendations for a simple solitaire cut diamond biggest for ard 3k-5k Budget? I scare I spent more she not too happy abt it.
