I see most people buy from JP. Just curious if anyone has any experience between celestial and JP. I’m currently back and forth between the two..

Celestial is a 73 faceted non-hearts & arrows cut. It's quite an old cut to show the patterning only, and at a marked up price. I rem seeing some that are not even exc/exc. Might as well go for JP's white series 111 facets that's a newer technology cut and is priced lower without the branding premium. Plus JP has the scopes of it to show its a better cut too.

Actually I personally like the SIC more. While the r10 and decagon has much more fire, I prefer the SIC because the light reflected is in larger faces (as it has lesser facets) unlike branded cuts that reflects light in numerous “specks”. Just curious if anyone has the same thought?

I thought the R10 and decagon and a better overall firey effect. It had all the small/medium/large fire combinations throughout. The SIC had bigger facets where when that facet light up, it will have that big fire, but the other areas where the facets doesn’t light up, it had that “empty” effect. The white series had more facets lighting up together at the same time.

Yes haha I agree that the white series has a way better firey effect. But Hor, to me the overall effect seems to be numerous small ones. As for the SIC it’s like either big or nothing. Hahah maybe my taste is just odd 😂

I prefer the larger flashes of the SIC too. We’re waiting for a stone of a specific weight to become available for our upgrade and our preference is for an SIC. Although at this rate (it’s been 4+ mths and still no luck due in part to a shortage) we’d consider the white series cuts if one becomes available. Fingers crossed.

Happy new year everyone!

I also requested for an exact weight for the proposal ring and thank God they have 2 SICs for me to choose from. Haha actually is it possible for them to custom cut to the weight you want? All the best!

Happy New Year too!

Just got my decagon scope photos :)
GF chose the decagon in the end. Was deciding between the round 10 and decagon. She picked the decagon immediately which made it easier for me.

We were served by Eugene. I highly recommend him. He brought us to show the SIC and the different white series outside the shop on our request and also under all the different lightings. My gf and I concluded that for some reason, the white series just looks much brighter. We saw a F round 10 that looks even whiter and brighter than a D SIC. Not sure if this makes sense, but its probably due to the light return or facets. In terms of bling and fire, my advice is not to just compare it in the jewellery shop light. When you bring it outdoor, you can see the white series sparkly all over but the SIC have more areas that dont really react.

In terms of what capture your eyes, under all the lightings that we've seen. The decagon and actually the other white series just simply outperforms the SIC. Eugene was kind enough to let my gf compare all 6 diamonds, and she picked the decagon. When she moves the diamonds on their tray, the diamond that captures attention the most is the decagon.

For those who haven't visited JP yet, when you view their white series line, compare them under different lightings and choose what appeals the most to you. Value wise though, I'm very surprised the decagon is not priced much higher than the SIC. Was expecting to pay 40% more, but ended up just a marginal difference for a much higher light performance.

Others bros here got the decagon, do you guys bling up your rings with the decagon melees as well? The ring design is left to me to figure myself and honestly I'm super lost. Any recommendations?

The ASET scope on the AGS report is computer generated (also stated on the report if you take a closer look) so you'll have to wait for the actual scope images from JP to really assess.

I am also awaiting my scope images, and the ASET scope image on my AGS report looks off too so don't worry :)

Nice decagon! Mind sharing the specs you got?
They have alot of decagon ring designs on their instagram. You can see there for ideas. My gf saved a few designs from there, then I just choose myself.

Theres quite alot of variations for the decagon melees on the band too. Good luck choosing!

Hi guys need some recommendations. My gf is looking towards rings with designs (e.g. Rings with emphasis on the workmanship i.e. a rose design) and is not interested in gemstones. Are there any shops which we can take a look at?

Thanks in advance!

May I check if JP is getting more of their diamonds certified by AGS? Just a curious question seeing the newer diamonds usually by AGS

Hi all,

just want to check, would there be any difference between custom-cut vs getting ready stock from JP ?

If nothing is finalized, then might as well amend now. Request for changes now is better than having more trouble later on when they have already started crafting your ring. Don’t paiseh then end up with more regret.

It seems like their white series are certified by AGS. As shared with me by my sales rep, it shouldn’t be a worry because AGS uses strict guidelines when it comes to grading, and usually they are stricter on the cut grading.

With AGS, the cut grading scale is from 0-10 (along with descriptive wordings), 0 being Ideal and 10 being Poor. Whereas GIA’s cut grading scale is Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair and Poor. Even if your diamond is a GIA Excellent, you wouldn’t know if it’s at the low end or higher end of Excellent range.
