Hi all,

I’ve started my diamond hunt last week for a 0.35 - 0.45 diamond at JP and was quoted $2450 for the diamond below and would be great if you guys could help me out.

0.317 E IF Decagon 10 Hearts & Arrows
AGS: 104115042030

1) It’s actually smaller than what I initially wanted. Based on the specs against the price, is it a steal?

2) I have read past posts that for a Decagon white series, colour G and clarity VS1 / VS2 would be sufficient. Does this apply to decagon white series diamond of all sizes?

3) As I am not rushing for time, would you recommend that I go for a custom cut instead? Perhaps, I could request for a 0.35 - 0.40 G VS1. Is there anything I should take note?

4) How do I tell whether a diamond has inclusions?

Thanks so much in advanced!

The Decagon prices is about there and your paying for a high color and clarity grade. Personally, I feel you don't have to go for such a higher clarity grade. JP already filters out the problematic inclusion types and are eye clean. So it can give you some savings for a lower clarity without affecting the visuals of the diamond. Also, their white series does look whiter compared to other cuts of the same grade. So you can also consider a lower color grade too. It's gonna be bright and shiny anyway. The cut applies to all the white series. And the decagon is meant to be the more reactive and highest light performing one amongst all of them.

You can try custom cutting one if timeline allows. Can get sometime more in your range.

The diamond certificate will show the inclusion type is has.

If it helps, here's a heart shape comparison video JP sent me. It's their new heart shape cut in their white series. But they only have their prototype available to see in their shop. It's a lab grown. There'll only be more stocks at the end of the month.

I can vouch their white series heart shape. I got mine 2 years back from blue Nile, went to see their prototype last week and there’s no contest. Mine from BN just looks so dull under all lighting compared to JP's new heart shape :(

wft..
so long!?

Good things have to wait 😂
They give a diamond edu session and will show different examples under different kind of lights. Its quite eye opening and you'll know all the tricks in the trade of how jewellers will try to hide the diamond flaws. It's worth it for the knowledge. That time when I booked for weekend slot, it was almost 2 months away

Hello! Would like to ask if anyone here has managed to get discount for setting from JannPaul?
I was quoted 1.4k for setting, think it's a lot higher than other places?
Anyone tried to set their JP diamonds elsewhere?

JP does the engravings FOC. They also give other free services like resizing and repolishing. One thing I like about their bands is that they seem to be more sturdy. Not like the usually flimsy ones you see at chain stores.

curious - what do u mean flimsy? how do you define flimsiness? i went shopping and jp and chain stores also have the same comfort fit

I think it’s to do with the density and thickness of it. Comfort fit is more to do with the design when the inner part of the ring is more rounded.

Alot of the bands I see was made very thin (especially at the bottom part). Or some had those ribs or curved groove portion on the upper inside so they use less gold. They just feel lighter and more flimsy. It might be also caused by porosity in the gold. But you’ll only find out after wearing for sometime as the ring plating covers porosity when it’s new.

Hi Bros,

Just received news from JannPaul that the diamond that I ordered is ready.

Could any of the pros here help me take a look to see if there are any particular issues?

Thanks

Might be easier to link the cert for rest to see.

It's lab grown decagon! Everything looks good on the cert. How does it look like in-person? I read JP's LGD are free of those common stria issues that lab growns usually have.

Hi,

I went down to JP today and they shared with me that the diamond in my range is ready. Could any of the experts here share with me if this diamond is acceptable? Apologies in advance, I just created this account, so I am unable to post the link to the AGS report.

0.460 F VVS2
AGS 104117825032

Much appreciated!
Thank you :)
