Special thanks to Avery for being very patient with us. There were just too many choices and all their White Series cuts have their own unique points. We changed our deposit afew times and chose their White Series Round 10. We visited their store 6 times in total to discuss about our diamond and design. Throughout the whole process, Avery was very accommodating and giving us good advice. She was even replying our whatsapp msges at 3am.. Didn't expect this at all, but am amazed by her dedication.

My diamond is a 1.05 G VVS2 White Series Round 10. It's a custom cut order that was suppose to be a F-G, VS1-VS2. The clarity turned out higher than expected so we got a free clarity upgrade If you can wait to custom cut your diamond, it's worth the wait.

Our initial concern was the rose gold crown head. Cos we read that rosegold rings can affect the diamond color. My gf wanted some rose gold elements, while keeping the base white. Avery assured us that the rose gold crown has been done before on other white series cut and it was fine. Their white series light return is much higher than even the SICs. So it won't see through the diamond to the rose gold.

Here's a pic from the front. Diamond still look very white In fact, some of her friend's even thought it was a ''D'' Color. Glad we followed Avery's suggestions.

This is with some morning sun shining on the diamond. Can see the sparkles of the diamond reflecting on the table. I think because the diamond is so bright and sparkly, it makes it look bigger than expected. I've seen my other friends 1ct rings before but don't rem them looking this big. Or maybe I'm just seeing what I want to see

I brought my wife to ''window shop'' to see what she likes, then went back later to choose my diamond as a surprise. I know some of my friends just did the entire ring shopping with their gf, and also got some that buy themselves too. See how much of a surprise you want it for your SO.

Most shops will have interest free installments. Just note that if you plan to collect miles or rewards points, it wont be valid for installment plans. Or if the shop allows and you don't need your ring so soon, every month you can do back to the shop to swipe your card to make a further down payment. That's what I did with JP to maximize my cash rebates

Under 10k for 1ct will be hard for a decent quality one. If it must be 1ct, you can try looking at the fancy shapes (non-round diamonds). Fancy shapes are cheaper and can get you 1ct under 10k for sure. But the sparkles VS round shapes won't be as good either. Need to give and take.

You see this video and you'll know what I mean.

You can try checking out JP's White Series collection. They have fancy shapes Hearts and Arrows that are much better than the regular fancies. It's priced cheaper than the rounds and perform even better that the SICs. I think under 10k, you might still be able to get their White Series cushion or oval.

Even if you compare the industry Ideal Oval cuts with their White Series Oval, its a big big difference.. IIRC, their White Series Oval 1ct G shld be about 9kish.

I think if you want value for money, then go for the better cut ones since it will look bigger and more sparkly anyway. If the psychological 1ct is a must, then I think the fancy White Series is a good choice (provided you want a non-round diamond). The Decagon if I'm not wrong is the top performer in their White Series. And ya, G color is enough for all their White Series since they are all cut to max brightness already. Decagon 1ct will be over 10k for sure. I know their Decagon and Round10 is about 5-10% more than the SIC, and Cushion and Oval cost less than the SIC.

I suggest seeing the diamond and visiting them to have a better feel of what you want. There are many types of diamond options. Then after getting the knowledge from them, you go other brands and compare. If you want good value and good quality, its hard to find other offering the same as JP. The next closest for comparison is probably online in Whiteflash ACA cuts. But it's limited to their round shapes only.

Jannpaul really doing good stuff, looking at my sic from with their service many years ago in this thread and now they’re internationally recognised. They've come a long way man.

Master designer from Singapore; of all countries I would have thought America or India or Israel. Guess the hype from Pricescopers especially on their decagon and oval is for a reason and here too. Jannpaul really doing good stuff, looking at my sic from with their service many years ago in this thread and now they’re internationally recognised. They've come a long way man.

on paper AGS one got a better cut than GIA. However, AGS one got feather on the girdle, better to avoid such diamond. The diamond may have the possibility to chip off. If inclusion on table is not your concern, and it’s eye clean. The can go for the GIA. You need to factor in tax if buy from whiteflash. For the GIA one, you can just bring your own scope if it’s a local retailer. : )

Some jewelers here just don’t provide aset scope/image. One thing i extremely agree with JP, the industry should be more transparent to customers.

just a guide, no hard and fast rule.

end of the day, buy what you can afford, buy what is comfortable for you. the ring is only a symbol, there's a lot more to pay for and a lot more hard work after that.

I have heard it and being told so by some colleagues.
To be honest, my view is buy what you feel comfortable and affordable. As long as both love each other, the money can be well spend on other stuff like property, renovation, honeymoon/vacation (after COVID-19 situation get better), or investment.

But if your other half expects 3 months salary ring, then I guess you have no choice also. Have to get it, otherwise this topic will come back time to time.

hi, it's been awhile since i've been back on HWZ! my quest for a stone has led me back here. has anyone seen a decagon/round10 larger than 2ct? I'm looking for something a little above that and have not seen anyone posting one yet, including JP themselves. I went through probably 40 pages of the thread including the old one and I saw someone and with a 1.8ish oval and a long pricelist with a 1.8 F VS1 for 39.8k. correct me if I missed out.
