JP revealed their cutting process here. The raw diamond to the final polished stage is amazing. Didn't know diamond cutting involves lasering too. Makes me feel like custom cutting another ring from them :ROFLMAO:

The laser part reminds me of a star wars scene. Haha. I showed my gf the video. She appreciates her diamond even more. lol

Am thinking of purchasing a loose diamond from one of the online retailers (Blue Nile / James Allen / White Flash) and then have the diamond set locally -- anyone know of any contacts / shops that will be able to do the setting at a reasonable price?

why don't want to buy directly at these setters? is it because you are getting a better deal at these places that sell loose diamonds?

Hard to get a good price for this. Cos they get profit margins from both diamond and setting, they will probably bake both into their quote to you so you might as well buy direct. JP i got ask before, they wont do a custom order for self-sourced diamonds. Private "bespoke" jewelers will probably charge you a premium also for their craftsmanship cos they also lose out on the margins for their diamonds.

Anyway friday at budget GST is probably going up, therefore by the time your diamond reaches our shores you'd be paying 1-2% more. Might want to consider just reserve a piece locally now before week's end as your consideration

Just to add on, Blue Nile, James Allen, White Flash, are drop shipments. They don't own the stocks they sell but are like middleman. Except for Blue Nile's Astor Ideal Cut or White Flash ACA, which is their Ideal cuts (not necessarily Super Ideal cuts), the rest are drop shipment goods. And those diamonds are usually priced lower for a reason. Back then when I did my research, I got compared those as well but after digging more, its actually not worth it. Btw, JP has access to those drop shipment goods too. So if you see any diamonds from there, just give JP the GIA number, and they will have access and can sell even cheaper than online through their HOH brand. But at least they would tell you the reason why that diamond is cheaper and the issues with it.

James Allen isn't that cheap for the quality either. They purposely censor the GIA number of their diamonds to make it difficult for you to compare. lol.

Most businesses start of as dropshippers as there is minimal capital involved and no requirement to hold stock
Whiteflash operates just like JP. Talk to them, they encourage u to take their ACA or any in-house stone instead of virtual stocks which they have access to just like JP

As dropshippers starts to earn more money, they move up the chain by holding physical stock. Bluenile started purely as a dropshipper before coming up with Astor but clearly asking a premium

whiteflash ACA are cut better than Astors.

What ring material do you guys go for your engagement ring & wb? Am considering between 18kWG and platinum

While wg is cheaper, i do appreciate the density and the weight a platinum ring provides.

i saw 0.7 carat decagon white series lab grown at about $2300 excluding setting.
Most likely you need about 3-4 months if currently no stock.

I bought my wedding band there as well.

I was told you can't tell the diff between D and E. And between E and F.

I have an F color coming. Honestly can't tell one la. Unless you want to scrutinize through and through.

Hello diamond shifus, I have placed a deposit for the following Decagon.
AGS 104112745053

I know their white series line is the best already. But any expert comments on the Depth of the diamond?

I have noticed from other posts that the various decagon depth ranges from 60+% to 66+%

We are also still pending the scope images

Thank you!
