What if you die half way?
Try include the cost of buying a term. :) see what is the outcome.

No point.
I am not a fan of endowment, I merely pointed out the difference between Ssb and endowment and suggested a way to do a fair comparison.

And I suggested an even fairer way, and the most common way actuaries use to make a fair comparison ;)

Dunno what you suggested actually, but frankly speaking endowment return is quite easy to beat, just don't use Ssb, use other higher yield stable instrument + term.

I think we all know dont have. But what is your point :s11:

Actually what is the purpose for comparisons of endowment? Or even comparing SSB to an endowment? Both operate in very different ways.

Point is, it is not tough to beat the returns of an endowment.

But like I said, endowment is suitable for a certain group of people who really just cannot save.

It cannot be only me who have such friends or clients right

Almost 1 decade ago, a 3-month t bills already giving nearly ~3% pa.

My point is, whatever the endowments can give, you can also achieve using DIY methods.

It is whether you want to choose this path or not. But if you choose NOT to DIY, then at least you have made your own consideration.

Going forward, participating policies are unlikely to generate high returns like they used in the past. Because the high growth economics era and high interest rates era are gone. After returning gains to shareholders/bondholders/fund manager/agents, policyholders will end up with peanuts.

Why dont use bank interest that needs to fulfill criteria :s11:

That itself is already an extremely easy way of beating those returns. (Provided you manage to fulfill them).

Even dismissing this itself, there are also other alternatives that can easily do it.

There is really not much point in comparing SSB against endowments for saving returns since both operate in very different ways. Just like all the other better alternatives.

End of the day, I think we can all agree that it is not tough to beat the returns. No need to argue between one and other by comparing apple to oranges.

PS. yyhwin is not even an agent I think. Why you all arguing like he is trying to prove something from an agent's view?

Dunno. I very lousy one. :) don't bother too much about me.

If you don't know, then don't mislead others by your poor comparison of ssb vs endowment plans. Because in your example, the ssb can actually beat the returns of an endowment plan
