PSU problem driving me crazy

PC bought from aftershock. At home cannot boot up. Tested another cable and another power socket, still cannot boot up. Sent in for repair, they said never encounter the problem. Sent back to me, can boot up a few times, then overnight cannot boot up again. Sent back to repair, they said can boot up.

My house got other laptops and electrical/electronic devices, all no problem.

How ah?

what system do you have? what happens when it cannot boot up? e.g. does fans spin, any lights, or just nothing happens when you press the button?

no didnt. and there's none to begin with i think. It is a very small pc, the Impulse. Upgraded the PSU when selecting the parts to purchase.

If the system powers on (fans turn) but unable to boot, doubt is the PSU problem. Try checking the motherboard debug LED during boot up, see whether got any indication. Chances are RAM or CPU instability.

There is, its just inside the case on the psu itself since it uses an extension for the power input, its a nr200p style casing.

but then, your case designed with psu hidden inside with an extension power cord to the back, so i guess it's unlikely ba..

Since the system is less than a year probably good to ask aftershock to test thoroughly otherwise they will have another threat unfavorable to their brand name since the components is fairly new.

Do you hear any abnormal sound or gridding during the usage or system start up?

If this happen frequently perhaps you can take some video and show them as evidence to support your case.

If recently installed any programs or windows update, I suggest uninstall the program and update to test if the system stable again because sometimes it could also be softw5 issue.

It is my lucky day today. They changed motherboard and psu for me. Overall i would say still quite good experience with Aftershock customer service. I only bought 1 year servicing. I should have bought extended period. haha.

yes but can't see any switch. I guess hidden inside, didnt really go and see. Btw the Impulse casing damn squeezy inside. I had to remove some cables of the psu before I can add my own ssd.

the switch is at the exhaust side of the psu itself (not your case).. just below (or beside) the power cord slot... sure can't miss it one...

so anyway, problem fixed?

There is AsRock option for amd in the link you posted. Mine is amd.

Now my casing is against the wall with 5cm gap and i removed the side panel that is facing the wall. The other side panel is still closed. Just wondering if this is the best setup? Or should i just close all panels? The way it is configured, with mesh holes side panels and tight enclosure (no space), i don't think the top exhaust fan can do much in terms of air flow heat control right? So might as well open one panel?

the reason you open up the side panel is it due to hot temperature?

personally I will close the side panel because the concerns of the environment dust pile up, sometime even in close room condition air con will blow up dust particles and also electric static on top of the dust particles in longer terms ( I always got shocked in aircon dry environment with metal panel or cabinet which could cause harm to the pc components)
