Every time I go there, I only go to these 2 malls. :o
Basically the 2 malls that are more easily accessible and have more shops open. Only when I can be bothered, I'd Grab to AEON as well. :o

malacca is not a place for shopping malls~ can still go but dun expect something like JB standard~ :s22:
Exactly! Why go to Melaka if what you want is just nice shopping malls? :s11:

Last time when still going in alone to Melaka with my wife, we will stop by the Aeon that was on the way towards the toll when leaving Melaka.

Since a few years before we stopped doing that coz nothing much at that Aeon.

Actually, nothing much at Makhota Parade and Pahlawan too. My wife likes the Roti Mum at Pahlawan, and I go to Parkson at Makhota to buy my stuff. Other times we just go around looking for food to eat. :o

These AEON malls are more or less similar to each other, just a matter of different locations. There was a Tesco within walking distance of that AEON in Melaka, went there once out of my handful of AEON trips, just to look-see. Maybe became Lotuss already

Ya, malls in Melaka are more for getting out of the hot weather (or rain, sometimes), cari makan, and buy for the sake of buying. More like window shopping, browse around to see if there are things to buy. At times lazy to pack extra clothes and toiletries, so only buy when I got there. :s13:

TBH, I do not visit those malls in Malacca, unless I forget something that I need when I stay there, like groceries or some contingency items. The shopping mall era arrived at Malacca with the first AEON at Ayer Keroh. What sufficed for shopping malls were only Fajar at "3-corner road" and Madam King's at Bunga Raya. In the 1990s came Mahkota Parade, Plaza Hang Tuah, a few failed malls at Jln Ong Kim Wee and Melaka Raya. AEON and TESCO showed up near the new Melaka Sentral. Dataran Pahlawan came to the scene in 2005? The Shore continues to struggle.

The mall scene is way behind JB, KL and Penang.

I visit those malls, I think I only brought polo shirt from Parkson (on sales). Really nothing much to buy. For shopping, still prefer JB or Thailand :ROFLMAO:

I've yet to visit Melaka post-C, but back then tend to under-pack and buy 3-for-RM50 t-shirts to use from Brands. 🤣 Dataran Pahlawan also has a "sub-basement" area selling local snacks and stuff, and we always make it a point to visit a stall where we've come to know the friendly sales assistant there over the years. Gula melaka, belancan, keropok, would normally buy from there. The Guardian Pharmacy in Mahkota Parade had a very friendly Indian lady pharmacist so we headed there whenever we need anything from behind the counter. Also visited Watsons for toiletries coz we never bothered to pack any.

Melaka visits are just to roam the streets and popping into the malls now and then, enjoy the hotels (Casa del Rio and DoubleTree @hilton) lazing around. So shopping is just out of convenience, secondary.

I've bought the best pineapple tarts I've eaten at Jonker, if you like the buttery ones.

The shop name is called 娇妈妈. Yellow signboard along the main street. Very clean looking shop. They also have fantastic butter cookies and chocolate cookies.

Can try if you go there.

I bought this brand from JB for cny. Supposedly used Anchor butter for their pineapple tarts. Not bad.

Anyone stayed at Hatten recently? Deciding between hatten and doubletree.. liking the idea of walkability from Hatten but scared by the not-so-positive reviews.

They used to have a free shuttle bus service from outside the mall next to DoubleTree to Hatten and beyond. Not sure about now.

Hi everyone, I have 4 days 3 nights in late Sept, planning to either do a trip in Penang or Malacca, any advice which is a better choice? Budget wise, probably around $400. Thank you.

For Penang, you better fly if you have 4D3N but this will affect your budget.
For Malacca, 4D3N will do very nicely if you take coaches.
