I am back from my trip and I have t say everything was alot better then I expected after what I have read from some of the earlier threads.
Luxury Coaches were more then fine. Some sign of wear on the chairs but overall they are comfortable, clean enough and the TV was well.. not the best but enough especially on the newer coaches which I took coming back. The staff were great heading there. The tour guide did not have to do it but she did, this nice indian lady, very detailed and entertaining telling us about Malaysia and Malacca, what you can and cant take back with you to Singapore....a lots more. All this without one time asking for tip. On the trip back, my friend and I got on the buses but then she found out her passport was still in the safe. I would willing to just cancel the trip on the coach and go back to get the passport with her and book another coach back from the bus terminal but to our surprise and gratitude, they were patience and gave us 30 mins to get back to the hotel to get it and this was with the help of a taxi friend they know who was also at the Equatorial Hotel. We have to take the cab because if you happen to have gone malacca, you will know the road system there is a big JOKE.. The roads all goes one way and sometime you have to go one big round to get to a building just 200m away. Anyway, we were back at the coach in just under 25mins and off we went. Everyone was wonderfully kind and good to help us that far.
As for the Hatten hotel, well, we experience none of the slowness to check in and to check out.. maybe it is becasue we were there on a Thursday and we Checkout on a Saturday. The lift was a bit slow in the speed it goes up and down but to say the lift were crowded, we did not feel we experience that. Granted we saw a lot of families in the hotel and at times a buzz with running wild children but it was fine... and I should know, I hate noisy bratty kids. The china nationals tourist was abit noisier and selfishly pesky with the local vendors and other guest in the hotel but that is something the hotel or Malacca on the whole can totally prevent. Yes I heard alot of grievning stories about them on triskaw and taxis. The rooms were clean and roomy for a deluxe suites we took. What is bad.. their wifi or lack of it and the TV. It was like the reception for the shows are from RF and not thru cable or wire.. it was snowy as sh*t but then again I was not staying in the hotel so it is just a place to sleep so I discounted that. Pools was not that full each time I was in the hotel and look down. I asked for a seaview but alas they convince us to take the pool view as the seaview ones will not be ready till 3pm. Which was fine.
The HAZE... it was almost no wear to be seen. BLOODY hot and sunny days from Thursday till Saturday. If you are a camera nut like me, you would have caught some great photos abeit at times too hot that you get a lot of contrast and too much dark and over-blown whites. I can say the Haze was out of the way totally and I think should remain so unless there are more burning and the wind changes.
Ate a lot of nice food and I think there was no need to go to the hyped up places they mentioned and also having to endure the long bloody queue. I think this is just Herd Mentality. I found the other places just as good when I was able to eat in some of those so call famous stalls and then ate at others to compare the next day. But I have to say Nancy's was a killer place to eat!!
Well I just thought I come in to quickly write this though a bit tired from the trip but if anyone got something to ask me, let me know.. if from my recollection I can tell you I would.
