Used to go there 2-3 times a year since 2009, but then my wife got sick of it, so stopped going in 2013. :s13:

This time round, wife and I want to try Bei Zhan.

By the way, where is Restoran Tong Sheng? Need to make reservations?

Also, which peranakan restaurant is the must-try over there? Sad to sad, despite going there so many times, also did not eat them.

Just checked Google earlier, as Hwaa advised to make reservation:
http://www.tongsheng.com.my/contact.php
It's about 8 minutes' walk from Hatten Hotel.

I'm not really into Chinese food, so have been bypassing Bei Zhan all this while. Instead, crossed the road from there and have Klang Bak Kut Teh. :o

Neither have I stepped into a Peranakan restaurant in Melaka so far. Rather looking for a Peranakan house to visit for a meal instead - nothing beats home-cooked! :s13:

Visited the Portuguese Settlement few months back, and it happened to be a feast day. There're make-shift stalls set up by the community and I'd the best authentic home-cooked meal. If only the Peranakan community does something similar. =:p

bei zhan food is not that cheap but this place is worth a visit. many sg cars during dinner time.

Boss like me, prefer to Whatsapp then talk. :s13:

my melaka colligs recommended this.

teo soon loong, its a old teochew restoran that recently shifted to a more atas location.

i read thru tripadvisor for reviews and decided to skip it.
....
I once read a review of one somewhere next street from Jonker, and from this review, does look like same one? It's in my list of probabilities but looks like history now, especially when they've moved. =:p

Edit: Apparently there's a Teo Soon Loong Chan in Jalan Hang Kasturi.

Teo Soon Loong Chan on Jalan Hang Kasturi is very well-established, since 1902. Very small place with 5 tables. Fixed number of sittings every evening and one must reserve well ahead. Ironically, it had to move to the new location because open cooking is not permitted in the UNESCO conservation area.

yup old setting was real old sch type thats why they shifted to now a more restaurant setup.

yeap its v established and apparently most malaccans will know this restoran and when i mention to them abt tongsheng restoran they all seems blur and dont know anything abt it.

tongsheng was setup in 2009 only so nt much people will know unless spread by word of mouth.

I'm normally too lazy to travel just for a meal, so most of the time my dinners are normally just lazy/quiet ones in one of the small places in Taman Laksamana, Jonker area.

I'm now thinking of that asam fish place opposite Casa del Rio Residences. =:p
