It seems Hatten hotel is the only hotel that is located near the shopping. Wanted to stay there but strangely it sold out every weekend

So we plan to stay in novotel. Is it far from shopping centers? If yes, is there any hotel to recommend?

About bus ride, which do EDMWers recommend? I searched and the big players seem to be StarMart and Konsortium. There is a Nam ho bus that is significantly cheaper too. Which do you recommend if safety is a main issue (like less speeding)

Thanks.

There are many hotels near Dataran Pahlawan and Mahkota Parade shopping malls, just that Hatten is linked via the bridges, thus the higher popularity.

Novotel is only like 5 mins' walk from Hatten, just that you'll have to walk outdoor and maybe cross a couple of streets. Equatorial is popular with SGeans as well, but if Hatten is full, I'm not sure if Equatorial will have vacancy. A few other hotels have been recommended by others in previous pages here.

I've taken 707 and KKKL with no issue, before I change completely to Luxury Coach. Again, there were recommendations here as well as the other thread discussing which coach to take, mainly for KL and Melaka too.

But after reading from page 1 to 127, found tat the traffic is very bad in Malacca during weekend, n tat day in Malacca is on 31 Dec, since I haven't book hotel for Malacca, should I skip it? My family first trip to port dickson and Malacca.

If you decided to go, it is advisable to book your hotel as early as possible.

To me, I will avoid malacca during that period. But it is good for you as first timer to experience.

Hmm.... traffic is always bad in Malacca especially during peak hours. Try to avoid peak hours.

No need to skip ba. I always go Malacca during PH long weekends. No need drive around or take taxi, just walk will do. As long as you stay at Jonker/Palawan Mall that area should be convenient.

Considering Novotel. but bringing old folks and kids. Is there shuttle bus to Jonker area?

Then stay at Equatorial or Hatten that is nearer to Jonker.

Or you can consider these hotels that is even near to Jonker: Casa De Rio and Aldy Hotel Stadthuys.

Or can stay in Jonker - Hotel Puri, Baba Inn

Ya, I agree, better book early later fully book. Malacca hotels are popular.

Visiting Melaka on a weekend when it's crowded and everything, is an experience on its own if you've never done it. So I'd say don't skip unless you've somewhere more interesting to go.

Once you've got somewhere convenient to stay, moving around to the shopping malls and Jonker area on foot will give you a good experience, a chance to check out other things along the way. This is especially true for first-timers or those who've not been there for many years. :)

One thing to remember is not to drive/cab into Jonker on a weekend.

You didn't ask the driver why he's dropping you there when it's written Equatorial Hotel?

Heavy traffic, no place to stop at Equatorial?
