Gonna be booking a trip to Melaka for the March school holidays.

Will be driving in on Sunday, and then leave on Wednesday. Wife wanna bring the kids to Legoland on Thursday.

Hopefully Sunday traffic at both customs will not be so bad.

Sunday go in should be fine, since most ppl Sunday return SG.
Since you drive, Legoland got many hotels and airbnb, you can choose.
I haven't stay in that area before so can't recommend.

Airbnb in MY not like the ones in Europe or US, where there are exorbitant prices to pay, etc?

Read a lot of horror stories of ridiculous cleaning fees while the those staying still need to clean up before leaving, etc.

Airbnb standard is unit cost + cleaning fee + tax.
I have stay in many airbnb in JB, airbnb rate are ok. For couple unit, around SGD65-75. Bigger room slightly higher. Host don't need you to clean the house, just maintain clean and rubbish in rubbish bin will do. Unless you got extra rubbish from shopping, have to throw outside. If condo unit, each floor got their own rubbish chute or collecting point.

Just to note, mostly host provide clean towels and clean bedsheet. I experience towel is dirty with stain. my wife say bedsheet is not clean too. Luckily only once bad experience. So read reviews.

My airbnb in Melaka is also good. The condo is Imperio Residence near to doubletree hotel.

All cleaning fees should be laid out already, unless the place becomes chaotic after a party.

Have read about owner asking the place to be cleaned up. No comment on that coz it's not happened to me.

Regardless, my clique always clean up as best we can before checking out, be it AirBnB or hotel rooms. Don't need to go to the extend to mop or what not, just clear all rubbish into bins/bags, wipe up whatever caused by selves.

Yes, I always keep rubbish in rubbish bin and maintain the place clean.

Side note: I notice Melaka airbnb, people like to check out late. Standard checkout time is 12pm, I still saw many push their luggage at 12pm+ to 1pm. Time left for the cleaner to clean the unit is shorter. Host even tell me, if you rush them, they scatter rubbish all over the place. So I think Melaka stay in hotel better. How I know, I sit in the lobby from 11am+ to 2pm, my host allow me early check in at 2pm.

Ya, never rush them coz it's naturally one can't clean properly when rushed.

Unlike hotel room when you can just be thrown to a haunted room if rushed for the one and only cleaned (but not used for a long time room). :s13:

I mean host rush customer to check out at 12pm. Customer get angry and they scatter rubbish all over the place.

Airbnb quite standard, don't allow early check in. My host help to clean so can allow me to early check in, I msg him first. Meet host at the lobby, he is so good that bring us to his unit can tell us how to use his stuffs. Very helpful. Msg him also reply very fast.
