Like that they ate just forcing most vehicles to go by the highway in front of Holiday Inn.

Smart move considering that side already always jam. :o

That side evening always very jam, yet traffic need to use that way. Should have better connecting roads to skip that area, so less traffic jam.
There is 1 traffic light infront of imperio residence. Green light turn red light in 5 sec, If heavy traffic, only 2-5 cars can turn right, this causes big traffic jam. Luckily happen only once .

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE VEHICLE FREE ZONE (55 HOURS)
STARTING FROM 6.00 PM (FRIDAY) UNTIL 1.00 AM (MONDAY)
EFFECTIVE ON MARCH 1, 2024 (FRIDAY)

Got the above message from Christee Suites.
Plus instructions on how to get there by another way.

Perhaps due to the special circumstances (end of Malaysian School Holidays) on Sunday, I was able to drive a vehicle in the evening to park in one of the paid parking lots outside SJK(C) Pay Teck along Jln Portugis. The traffic and crowds were a lot more manageable in the Jonker Walk area. I appreciate the Vehicle-Free Zone as the Stadhuys Red Square has been transformed to a pedestrian-only zone and one could pose with the colourful trishaws and street-buskers at no risk from the usual traffic.

Been staying at Christee Suites Hotel since Sunday and just checked out today 13 March 2024 Wednesday.

Here is my review.

The hotel is still rather new, and rather small, so will not too be too crowded. But I checked in on Sunday, so may not be accurate.

Regarding any shortcut to Pahlawan, the front counter told me no. Have to walk by the road Jalan Chan Koon Cheng. I looked around, but don't appear to really have. The only possible way is to have an exit made into Hotel Equatorial, but appears impossible for now. Weirdly, only my family of 4 were walking on the road towards Pahlawan. Perhaps others were all driving or Grabbing while I prefer to park the car in the hotel to walk to Pahlawan and beyond. Raining will be an issue if walking out as there is no shelter until you reach Pahlawan, or at least Hotel Equatorial. Can shorten the walk by cutting through the car park of the abandoned hotel.

Swimming pool was not very big, but with a deep pool and a shallow pool, it is more than enough for families to have fun. My kids and I played for more than an hour. :ROFLMAO:

Did not try the food in the hotel, as we thought we could try the buffet breakfast during our checkout. But the front counter staff informed us that not every day will have buffet. Just nice the day we check out do not have buffet, but only ala-carte.

There are only 2 lifts in the small premises. Just nice 4 person with luggages. Any more you will need to wait for the next lift. Shouldn't take too long as there are only 4 levels in total.

Abandoned hotel? Not Equatorial, is it? I thought that's closed for renovation...

Anyway, how long did you take to reach the mall?

I walked almost everywhere when staying at Casa del Rio, but had to Grab when switched to DoubleTree :s34:

Just follow Jln Chan Koon Cheng and cut across the front porch of the Equatorial. Dont go behind it- no point risking.

Has been closed like forever. Don't see anything being done. Only security sitting or standing around at the front porch.

It was little intimidating especially after our movie at night close to 11pm. :o

Double tree is really far away. On Sunday, with the road closures, the one way street on Jalan Chan Koo Cheng goes the opposite way, so to get to Jonker, our Grab had to go around Double Tree to get onto Jalan Syed Abd Aziz highway. Felt like going out of the city. :p

All blocked off by Hotel Equatorial, no way to go behind other than around.

Just felt weird other guests in the hotel do not go to Pahlawan or Mahkota Parade, or they just Grab even with that short distance.

The past few days, really only my family were walking along the road. Gotta be careful as some cars and most motorcycles like to take the bend very close to the edge of the road. Had a few close shaves these past few days.

I didn't go to the area recently. Did they fence up the Equatorial, including its front porch? I think you have no choice other than to cross a few streets if you want to avoid walking on the Hotel Equatorial side. It still makes a lot more sense than to see people suggest Grab, which is silly as Jln Chan Koon Cheng is a one-way road.

At first, I also thought that Double tree is very far. Actually by grab, less than 5 mins reach Hatten area. Grab take a short cut, so very fast.
