I didn't go to the area recently. Did they fence up the Equatorial, including its front porch? I think you have no choice other than to cross a few streets if you want to avoid walking on the Hotel Equatorial side. It still makes a lot more sense than to see people suggest Grab, which is silly as Jln Chan Koon Cheng is a one-way road.
They fenced up the bordering Christee Suites Hotel.

After going round it, you can walk into the open space car park by 2 parts along the way. No vegetation blocking. Can save maybe a minute or 2, depending on how fast a person walks. :p

The former entrance has been cordoned off for vehicles, but no problem for pedestrians to walk into. We walked so many times until the security could recognize my girls. :o

Now RM5 to RM8
The short cut is from Jalan Syed Abdul Aziz, cross junction cut into Jalan Melaka Raya 8.

Now Grab waiting time is longer, at least 10 mins and above.
My record was more than 20 minutes near Huskitory going back to Christee.

One thing for drivers.

The SVP Smart Parking app damn convenient!

Just downloaded last night, and used it along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock today. SG one still gotta find the carpark code, and then set the time.

This app just need to activate parking and then set the duration can liao! Can also extend parking and it will send notifications of expiring parking. It however, does not refund unused parking. So if you over committed, you do not get back the change.

So for fellow drivers, should download it for use in Melaka! Top up with TmG ewallet can liao.

PS. I made most of my purchases with my ewallet. So much more convenient compared to SG!

Been staying at Christee Suites Hotel since Sunday and just checked out today 13 March 2024 Wednesday.

Here is my review.

The hotel is still rather new, and rather small, so will not too be too crowded. But I checked in on Sunday, so may not be accurate.

Regarding any shortcut to Pahlawan, the front counter told me no. Have to walk by the road Jalan Chan Koon Cheng. I looked around, but don't appear to really have. The only possible way is to have an exit made into Hotel Equatorial, but appears impossible for now. Weirdly, only my family of 4 were walking on the road towards Pahlawan. Perhaps others were all driving or Grabbing while I prefer to park the car in the hotel to walk to Pahlawan and beyond. Raining will be an issue if walking out as there is no shelter until you reach Pahlawan, or at least Hotel Equatorial. Can shorten the walk by cutting through the car park of the abandoned hotel.

Swimming pool was not very big, but with a deep pool and a shallow pool, it is more than enough for families to have fun. My kids and I played for more than an hour. :ROFLMAO:

Did not try the food in the hotel, as we thought we could try the buffet breakfast during our checkout. But the front counter staff informed us that not every day will have buffet. Just nice the day we check out do not have buffet, but only ala-carte.

There are only 2 lifts in the small premises. Just nice 4 person with luggages. Any more you will need to wait for the next lift. Shouldn't take too long as there are only 4 levels in total.

how's e parking for cars like for tis hotel? i normally drive up and almost always stay at e "usual suspect" hotels around e 2 mall.

It's open space parking. Had lots of space for parking, but not delineated lots, so just park next to any cars or into any space.

I arrived on Sunday, so had quite a number of cars. Over the few days, sometimes I see a lot of cars, sometimes not many. But quite a few SG cars. Maybe because it is the school holidays in SG.

Cars will be baked under the sun whole day, so I moved the car to face the building so that in the afternoon, the car will be in the shade.

I bought a new front windscreen shade, 2 front row shades and a boot shade to prevent the car from getting too hot.

PS. I almost always stayed at Hatten, other than that one time I tried Novotel, which has since closed down. Hatten is really super convenient if wanna be near the 2 malls.

I still miss Novotel. Good location, cheaper than Hatten. Now I also change to Hatten but it is really hit or miss especially in terms of housekeeping (towels) and cleanliness of the room. Novotel is not a five star hotel but they were consistent, you know what you will get.
If I know my trip is going to be sleeping more, I go for Doubletree. A bit further but am guaranteed a comfortable stay.

What I like about DoubleTree are the buffet breakfast and their 4-ft twin beds. Even nearly fell off Casa del Rio's twin beds :s13:
