Thanks for the inputs. Seems like have to activate plan B and go stay in JB one night before.

Thurs night 8pm go in to JB ok? Was thinking can still walk walk in KSL abit 😂 (planning to get a room in KSL for the convenience)
The evening before any weekend or holiday makes for a traffic jam till the early wee hours of the morning. I suggest that you monitor the traffic cameras and make a break for it when the coast is clear or tolerable. My crystal ball says 5-7am on Friday may be your break.

I decided to book a room at KSL for Wed. Drive in after lunch should be ok. Stay overnight in JB. Next morning can slowly wake up, eat breakfast then drive to Malacca and stay overnight on Thurs (PH) and Fri. Saturday afternoon drive back.

Now just hope Wed afternoon no heavy traffic at custom. 1 infant and 1 toddler shouting in the car during a jam is no joke 😂

This is optimum and gives you a high chance to avoid heavy traffic in both directions.

Morning to Malacca, move out earlier less traffic jam.
Saturday afternoon drive back, again earlier better. NS Expressway start to have heavy traffic in the afternoon.

Wed afternoon - weekday should be find.

Thanks for the advice.

May I know if the following timing is ok?

JB to Malacca: leave at 10am

Malacca back to SG via second link: leave at 10am

JB to Malacca: leave at 9am will be better.
Return 10am should be fine. (before noon is fine)

Most coaches leave SG in the morning, reach Malacca near noon.
Most coaches leave Malacca in the afternoon.

Reasonable, in my opinion, though for my past 3 trips since June 2024, I did not encounter smooth traffic either direction between JB and Malacca. The highway has reached its designed capacity and expansion is overdue.

Besides Hatten hotel having a good location near malls, are there other similar hotels that are convenient? Near to mall and walking distance to jonker.

I think nothing beats Hatten (and Estadia since they share the same building) with the connectivity to the 2 malls.

Based on Google Maps, I see another one named The Explorer Hotel Melaka that is quite good location. Even nearer to Jonker. This one is right beside Mahkota Parade and directly opposite Dataran Pahlawan. Not sure how good is this hotel though.

How is the security over there? Is it safe to drive our SG car in, and park in the accommodation, let's say if i book a AirB&B condominium. Will our car get stolen in there?

I stayed at Bali Residences during the previous school holiday. Need to flash the card to enter and exit the car park.

Should be very safe.

Read that the security at the opposite side, Atlantic very fierce. So should be even safer. :o

Whenever you park your car in Malaysia, always use steering wheel lock.

I stayed at the Explorer over 10 years ago. Read the reviews online before you decide. The location is unbeatable when the traffic is not a problem. The room was small as the hotel occupies several shop house units. The area was not so developed a decade ago. Get a view of the area with Streetview to see what I mean. I imagine fumes from the f&b establishments may be an issue. Looking at it today, personally, I will not stay there again.

Dont think hatten is linked to estadia. Went there last month, estadia to hatten need to walk around 8 to 10 minutes. Estadia hotel is behind the makhota hospital area.

Went Melaka during last month. Happened to walk around mahkota and the dataran pahlawan mall.
The explorer hotel indeed has a very good location ...
It is just a short walk from the mahkota shopping mall.
Price is good but room is small.

The Estadia shares the same parking as the Hatten because they are in the same building. One can in fact walk through the Hatten from its reception to reach the Estadia and the attached bus terminal there.

They could've blocked off some access points after C19. I remember walking through somewhere upstairs while exploring the various floors.

Anyone have a good recommendation of AirBNB at Malacca with good security, as we are thinking of driving up with the kiddos for the June hols ?
