Two main ways:
1) Hall
2) CCAs

Won't elaborate on 1) since it is kinda answered in another thread that you posted in.
2) There are different tiered CCAs that give different points for different positions (that's for the points way of getting a hall stay). On top of points, some CCAs have a recommendation list for key appointment holders (that's the CCA rec list way).

And if i didn't go for hall camp does this mean it's very hard to make friends in hall?

Say hi to your neighbours if you didn't join the hall camp. They can pull you into their OG.
For hall ccas, I believe most halls will have a 'showcase' night for you to know about the different activities in hall.

No, there are many criteria to meet before being rec back.
E.g. 3 sports, 2 sub-comm, 1 main comm
Or you can be really indispensable to the hall in a certain sport/culture activity. E.g. you are the top sportsman/sportswoman in Hall 6

The best way to get hall?
Enjoy your hall stay and have fun. When enjoys your company, you will naturally get rec back

Giant and 7eleven nearby, canteen 1 and 2 just round the corner, 179 bus stop close by, Sports and Recreation Centre within 2min walk, short walking distance to North Spine and South Spine (if you know the short cuts ), ADM is just across the road!

I'm matriculating to NTU this year and I am wondering if non aircon rooms are really that bad? I intend to put single non aircon room as my preferred choice of accommodation. Cos aircon rooms are like 100bucks more (?) , but then most aircon rooms are in halls that are newer...

Would advise you to get an aircon room. Non-aircon rooms tend to be the older and dirtier ones (unless it is the scholars hall).
And also it gets pretty hot in sem 2
