Hello everyone. I'm currently using a new PC with 8GB RAM, gtx 780, i4770k, good PSU, etc. However, my monitor is only 60-75 hertz.

Should I turn off VSync for Dota2? By default, it caps out at 120fps(which I'm able to maintain, even with max settings). With VSync off, the cap is 60 fps.

However, there is a noticeable occasional 20fps drop during hectic battles, from 120 to 100, whenever I'm streaming.

I've heard numerous differing advice from friends on whether to enable Vsync or otherwise. I'm seeking an enlightened consensus from you guys!

Some informed advice would be much appreciated!

E purpose of vsync is for pple who encounter screen tearing.

I recommend don't enable it as its limit to monitor refresh rate normally all using 60hz. Always allow some room for fps to drop during sudden intense battle scene. Once hit below 60 will encounter graphic lag.

If u wan lower e gpu usage can even set lower than e default 120 fps lockrate by using console command max fps xxx

Erm for me, i play dota2 with v-sync off. Screen tearing isnt that apparent on dota 2 and since more fps = u get the latest frame updates faster, it would be an advantage in game i guess...

Anw with vsync turned off, the cap should no longer be at 60fps. Gaming at around 100fps during massive team fights while streaming is quite normal. As long as the gameplay is still smooth, it should be still okay. Somehow although my monitor is only 60hz, once the fps dips down 80-90fps i can start to feel abit of sluggishness already... Not sure isit me only or what lol.

U can use max fps xxx to change the max fps the game can render. Do note that the game engines somehow caps at around 150fps??(cant rmb the number liao).
