Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! (Philippians 4:4, NASB)
Yesterday there was EDMW thread — as usual complaining life is tough, work until old, cost of living up, kena bullied must diam, food price high, job also unstable.
People frustrated because the world keeps shifting… and we all feel the pressure.
But Philippians 4:4 says:
“Rejoice in the Lord always.”
Not “rejoice when the economy good,”
not “rejoice when govt policies shiok,”
not “rejoice when my life finally smooth.”
BUT Rejoice in the Lord.
Why?
Because if your purpose, joy, or motivation is built on worldly circumstances, you’ll always end up empty even if you strike Toto, become CEO, or live in a GCB.
Because everything here is perishable, unstable, fades away, and eventually gets taken from us.
We all age.
We all get sick.
We all die.
And when you see others doing better, envy comes.
When things go wrong, anxiety comes.
When hope is placed on this life alone, the heart cannot settle.
But if your hope is placed in Christ,
you’re anchoring your joy to Someone who
doesn’t change, doesn’t fade, doesn’t die, and keeps His promises.
If He conquered death,
and if He promises eternal life to those who belong to Him,
then you can actually find a joy that doesn’t collapse every time the world shakes.
Not “toxic positivity.”
Not pretending life is easy.
But a real, unshakeable peace because your future is in the hands of Someone eternal.
At the end of the day:
If you live for this world, you will lose everything.
If you live for Christ, you will lose nothing that truly matters.
That’s why Philippians 4:4 says we can rejoice —
not because the world is good,
but because God is.
