Many times people can get caught up doing ministry and neglect a personal relationship with Jesus and that is what leads to preachers being caught in really embarassing things that should never even be mentioned among Christians.
Ephesians 5:3,”But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;”
Jesus is more concerned about us having a relationship with Him and truly living in the fear of God than us living godless lives yet preaching to others.
Our lives are a greater message than a sermon we can preach.
We do not just have to preach to others while we ourselves are living in disobedience to God but above all,we have to take care of our own salvation first.
Once a person neglects their our own relationship with Jesus,it doesn’t matter how much someone preaches, they will backslide.
John 15:6,”If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”
Once satan kills a persons prayer life,he will always use the old paths, getting them caught up in their old sinful habits.
When that happens its better to stop preaching in hypocrisy and take care of our own salvation first because God doesn’t take hypocrisy lightly, but if a person is unwilling to repent ,God will expose because hypocrisy causes His name to be blasphemed by unbelievers.
Romans 2:21-22
“You, therefore, who teach another, do you not teach yourself? You who preach that a man should not steal, do you steal?
You who say, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?
Once we put on Christ’s name, being called christians,we have to seperatete ourselves from everything that will cause Christ’s name to be brought to disrepute for we are called to live lives worthy of the calling of God.
Ephesiansians 4:1,”I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called,”
This is for every Christian not just preachers, but for preachers,God’s standard is even higher and for this reason the bible says let not many be teachers because they will receive a stricter judgment.
James 3:1,”Not many of you should be teachers my brothers, knowing that we will receive greater judgment.”
God urges us to run as people who want to win the race,to lay aside every sin that easily entangles us.
Hebrews 12:1-2,”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
1 Corinthians 9:27,”but I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.”
