Need some clarification...

I just jump from SNBB to Singtel Fibre.

As it come with the wireless dual band modem.

Is this enough?

I google and find there is a device call "optical network terminal "
Do I need to purchase it?
Or singtel will provide it when they come and do the installation.

You go to singtelshop.com and you will be able to see the detail there.
It is provided as you can see there is a free ST installation for ONT and router on the flyer and the great thing is that the dual band router is guarantee by ST and can do 1 to 1 exchange when it is faulty. Support staff work on Sunday too except for CNY.

thanx 4 de reply.

usually i do not on my modem 24/7 dats y i am wondering whether digital call is troublesome or not.

will nid 2 find out more on m1 analogue line charges, number portability and whether got any quarterly telephone line charges.

dis will add to my consideration.

Not so sure on M1 digital voice setup but if it connects to the ONT, you wouldn't have to 24/7 switch on your router. If it connects to the router, then you have to switch on your ONT and router 24/7.

Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

I got the same package as Streetwise from retention *yesterday*:

200MB fibre $49.90 (24 mth contract)
- Wireless Dual-band modem
- weekday installation waive
- Registration fee waive
- Free 7 (4+3) mth subscription
- Free home analog line subscription
- 10% discount on mobile subscription
- $100 handset discount (need to re-contract mobile at the same time).

Didn't bargain or threaten to terminate. Just signed up today.
Just talked to retention dept again and here's the offer for 100Mbps:
All freebies the same only price plan, which is:
100Mbps $39.90(24mth contract)
Free 5mths(3+2) line subcription.
Thus, average mthly subscription is $31.59
Pls note tat $100 voucher and 10% NOT applicable to those on CIS(Corporate) plan.

Looking hard at this 100Mbps offer as the speed is more than sufficient to meet my needs and at the same time, cost is lower as analogue home line no need to pay subscription :D.

When I called up on Thurs to retention, they told me they don't offer 100Mbps. Minimum is 200Mbps n above. $3.76 more for additional 100Mpbs. Worth to go for 200Mpbs or just 100 will do? Can tell the difference?

Yeah, their promos come and go. 1st time call, they had only 200Mbps promo; today call to clarify about 200Mbps and say m1 100Mbps pricing good...they offer me their 100Mbps with 5mths free subscriptions :D.

Whether can u feel the difference bet 100 and 200Mbps...depends on ur usage pattern. I've approx 5 pple in hse using internet, with most doing surfing and maybe 1 on lite gaming and all are using wireless, thus, 100Mbps is sufficient for me. If u've several members playing games at the same time and/or doing PnP....probably a 200 or higher speed may be needed.

I am currently on 15Mbps with no significant bandwidth issues, thus, 100Mbps will be a significant boost with the same cost......

Maybe I not clear on my explanation on phone line. Let me rephrase.

For Singtel bundle:
Analogue line - Subscription free but local calls are charged. If convert to digital voice, there is no subscription fees and locals calls are free.

If u port over to M1, it will be converted to digital voice, with no subscription fees and local calls are free.

If u are using digital voice, switching off ur modem means ur phone line is deactivated since digital voice is VOIP....meaning it depends on internet to recd/make calls.
thanx 4 de clarification :)

yes last time i called they said they do not offer 100Mbps, 100 Mbps is only offer when you go down to the pc fair to sign up (for new and contract ended customer)

can i check wif u is ur contract ended? coz my contract will end next month. though it is eligible to recontract but nt sure for 100mbps gt any special clause or not.

i think a lot of ppl complain on m1 fibre 100 mbps dats y singtel team have 2 reconsider 100mbps offer.. if nt every1 will jump ship to m1.

i will have 2 call again.

Thank u for your reply. It seems that depending which retention officer u talk to, the package is different. When I request to waive the registration fees, they say cannot. Looks like I talk to the wrong person. Maybe I should talk to your officer. u have the name?

BTW, have u decided to go for which plan? They have a 15Mbps for re-contract with 3 mth free n a 7.2 mobile bb. That's works out to be $26.16per mth.

I could recontract since March....ie, 21mths. My contract is ending on 16th June.....thus, just nice for PC show :D. If u can recontract, make sure talk to retention dept as CSO does not hve the additional benefits to offer.

Last week, I call twice to CSO.
1st call, CSO told me the 15Mbps 24 mth contract, free 3mth n 7.2 mobile bb. Offer me the same 200 fibre as online.
When I request to forward to retention department (RD), she said she can offer the same thing as RD.
It look to me, no point continue the talk with her, as she is not helpful at all. Hence end the call

2nd call (last friday),
Offer me the same 15 MBPS plan,
I ask for 100 fibre, CSO said don't have. min 200 fibre

This 100 fiber is even cheaper than the 15MBPS cable.
If you include the home line $30 per Q

Speaking to CSO will not get u the best offer as they only hve std offers and not offers for re-contractors like ourselves. I always make a point to speak to retention dept.

When CSO speaks to me, I'll just tell them my BB is expiring and looking to terminate the line.....automatically they will xfer u to retention dept :D.

Actually, my ADSL plan not bad as I had $20 deduction mthly from my analogue line...but this time round...they do not hve same offer....so no choice, bargain for next best offer...which eventually turn out to be the 100Mbps. If they did not offer a competitive BB promo....I would hve jumped ship immediately.

I did but she refused to transfer my call to retention dept.
Even I said I want to terminate, she replied.. okay I can proceed for you.

:spin:

That's why I end the call and call on other days which manage to transfer to retention department.

Then this retention dept lady said she only can offer me SNBB item, for fibre not her side. Then transfer me to don't know what department.. then talk talk.. then transfer me back to retention dept.. this time.. that man can offer me the 200 fibre plan with free extr 2 mths...

I ask for +3, he said cannot.. that is the max he can give?

already ding ding dong dong for 30 min..
By the time, I end the call and recontact to 200 fibre..
38 min gone..

Actually the 100M plan is good and it give you the dual band router during major fair only. Support staff work on Sunday and the router is under their care and can be replaced.

Too many people called the detention department. Actually you should say you want to ask for more months waive from detention dept and should call before the fair.

the deals at singnet IT fair vs the 100mbps singnet mailer, are they comparable? if it is about the same, i will just call retention dept to recontract, a bit troublesome to go down to expo..
