thinking of switching to fibre. what are the additional cost like?

for example, administrative charges, rental of modem etc?

Reply from My Republic in Facebook:
MyRepublic $128.40 service activation and installation fee applies.
Currently all the $28/mth is sold out
We're left with the $38/mth till 8th Feb 2013.

i have recontracted at $23.45 for 10mbps 1 year contract, and obtained a $5 phone line rebate, although phone line under father's name, while internet under my name. Just to share with bros here.

Saw singnet website, prices for adsl has come down... normal plan for 10mbps is only $31.90, and comes with 7.2mbps BBOM. For those who want the BBOM sim card, that $31.90 plan might be attractive.

dun know if it's the adsl line got issue or what.

but do get internet disruption every now and then in the evening for this week.

down time sometimes as short as a couple of second, to a couple of minutes. then at times need to power cycle the modem n router to force refresh the wan ip. otherwise, can't access the net at all.

10mbps singnet adsl plan.

I get it too.

Was smooth sailing for very long until noon of 2-Feb till night when the first match of BPL started. Called in to 1688 and they fixed an appt for Monday 4-Feb afternoon. However, back to normal on Sunday so I called to cancel.

Problem re-surfaced 9-Feb afternoon from around 3pm and all the way into the night when BPL started. Called in to 1688 3 times and they sent a tech over immediately since I am on BPL plan.

He came around 10:30pm. Checked things out and I repeatedly have to tell him the problem is not there permanently and that he had to wait for the disconnection to happen. After checking the wires and of course signal to their exchange was good, he witnessed the discconection once. He noticed a pecularity - the broadband and internet LED were still on solid green for more than 30 sec to a min when the mioTV has already lost connection and signal. Naturally, I also lost internet. He said this is not normal.

After he left, I had disconnetion at the following times:

10 Feb
======
03:03
03:19
03:48
05:23
08:39

Sunday, I called 1688 and this time they arrange for a senior tech to come over. They wanted to fix a weekday appt (I can understand as early as possible) but I told them it would be better on Sat afternoon since the problem was worst the last 2 Sat. They agreed. So my appt is tomorrow 4pm.

Meantime, more disconnection on:

12 Feb
======
13:09

13 Feb
======
04:31 (2nd of 2 times)

14 Feb
======
18:56
20:06

15 Feb
======
02:20

If I can, I will show the senior tech this thread.

Those on ADSL DC, did you manage to ask the Tech to check the phone line from outside your main door all the way to the box near the staircase.

I have this DC 4yrs back till last Dec 2012 ( SITEX Show ) when I switched to FO. I have 5-6 techs came to my hse check n check but problem still exist. Then I requested a senior tech who came and connect a long phone line from the box near staircase all the way to my hse the modem. Haha found the culprit, is ST problem and not my hse line problem.

The tech went over to a few blocks away which contain the main box. 30mins later back and test again and everything was ok a few months and back to sq one. My is old estate so he suspect is under ground cable problem.

My line always have this hissing sound whenever it rains heavily. I checked with neighbour and a couple of them which also complain at times phone line very noisy till cant even hear what the other party is speaking. Internet line suka suka DC when using. Till today, my line at times still very noisy.

Knowing my case history of frequent disconnection the last 2 weeks, the senior tech changed the connection from my riser to use another wire all the way to a sort of circuit room in the adjacent block. This means the wire going all the way underground from my block to the adjacent block. Then in the circuit room he changed my connection to another rack or row. He said this will give me a fresh connection and ask me to monitor it.

As he explained, the broadband LED was up first. Then a while later, the internet LED came on after they re-confirgured the back end.

So now I monitor.

I think my problem is finally solved.
Singtel technician told me that he had replaced some components in the main circuit room, and also replaced my 2wire to a Pace.

It's been more than 24 hours now, and so far so good! Fingers crossed!
