Re-contract Singnet 10 Mbps?

i am unable to go for fibre as my parents do not want the openet installation to mess up the house renovation.

looking to upgrade my current 15mbps broadband service but seems like no other plans available..

anybody facing the same situation??

Technology evolves. Understand the beauty of a renovated home but one day you will need fibre. I think it's possible to request for onsite survey to understand your parents' requirements and suggest a solution for your fibre service.

U should also have starhub cable?? ADSL will die a natural death eventually...and probably cable too...eventually. Then ur parents will have no choice but to subscribe to fibre.

SingTel seems to stop providing ADSL broadband service anymore, at least to new subscribers.

And they no more offer new ADSL signup. And they keep coming to door steps to persuade upgrades to fibre. And I kind of feel like the current ADSL speed is getting slower. There's seconds lag even when navigating HWZ forums...

ADSL will get DC quite frequently nowadays too for me.

Fyi, I've moved to fibre two IT shows ago as the price difference is no longer significant.

Actually it can be considered as no more price difference if take into account of promotions plus free home line etc. But I'm quite sian to let them come install more cables and trunks around the house. Plus the fibre setup is requiring more space and more messy too. ADSL modem router setup is so neat and simple.

Until the day we can enjoy superspeed OTA signals, Fibre is the current generation broadband. Sooner or later you will get on board too.

Seems like the 3 telco is not keen to serve the needy people who doesnt require fibre

Honestly labour cost is high in sg as such it is not easy to have something less than $20 unless it is mobile BB (2Gb data) which is suitable for elderly who seldom use the Internet. M1 100Mbps (during Major fair $29/mth) is another alternative. For elderly with no income or those really poor si can not afford, they will be assisted by Gov. Do not think you are really poor and can not afford it.

this real needy (low income) families have channels for them to apply for pc/laptop (5yrs warranty) and foc broadband ... u will be surprise wat they do with it afterwards...


some even have free school shoes for kids...



however i agree i have not seen plans for Elderly ... which i m paying 2 mbb for my parents...

The only alternative plan is M1 100Mbps (during Major fair at $29/mth).

As i said if they r low income/needy families they can approach school for help , they will direct them to those com-care etc plans...

but if u r looking to pay for yr friend/family just so they have internet access with budget $20 is not possible...not that i know.

or

maybe u r looking for cheap bb services so as to offer wifi to tenants..

Low income family can pay as low as $6/mth with gov assistance. Just need to call IDA and ask them and they will sure be able to give you some direction on how to apply.

For low income, they can apply for Home Access to help them pay for it. Household Income below $1,900 or $600 per person. If income $2,400 with 4 family members also can apply. At least one family member must be Singaporean.

From the access point can use a powerline home plug? Then no need cabling. The newest AV plug i read around 80Mbps ?
