Recommand a CPU cooler ><

Hi all,

recently i try to build my own DIY (mini ITX) pc but i guess i bought the wrong parts...so really no choice but to ask here again ><

Originally:
i7-6700k + Asus Maximum VIII Impact
Fractal Design Define NANO S (Window case)
Noctua D15S

as above, it seems the D15S (165mm) can't fit into my casing and it is so big that the pipe is very close to the ram.

I thought of changing to D14 (160mm) but i see from the picture it is still very big in size.

Oh btw, can i confirm with u guys, the Cosair Vengence LPX is shorter in terms of height?

please help ><

You can consider a AIO water cooling solution.

if you want to stick to air cooler, and Noctua, the NH-U9S is pretty decent. I'm using one, single fan, with a delidded 6700K clocked to 4.5Ghz at 1.3V, barely goes past 60C on Prime95 v28.9, ambient about 22C.

Hello, I'm thinking of a similar rig. I have bought the CPU same as yours, Corsair LPX RAM and SSD. Still contemplating the rest of the parts, but thinking of MSI Z170A ITX motherboard and Fractal Design Define Nano S, with a BeQuiet Dark Rock 3 CPU cooler. Height wise, it seems to fit but I'm still researching and thinking... I don't see BeQuiet available in SG so will be ordering from Newegg.

@wacko: i read from their website that u9s is not recommend for OC . Do u know any local store sell this model? Thanks alot

the NH-U9S is probably not for extreme overclocking, e.g. more than 4.8GHz on Skylake, Vcore of more than 1.35V. but it is fine for mild overclocking (in my case mentioned above). I bought mine from Amazon, free international shipping, as long as you can hit USD125. I didn't bother to hunt in SLS, so you may want to try looking there first.

on overclock.net forums ... the recommended safe voltage range for skylake 24/7 is 1.4v and under for air cooling , 1.45v for custom water (not AIO)
and 80 d celcius

If u value aesthetics the AIO water cooling will look nicer and less cluttered in your pc. U can look through corsairs or some other Brand’s offerings

Hijack abit, wacko bro ur system runs in aircon room? 22 idle is really low, or is my idle of 40 and load 60 hot? I'm running 3570k 4.2 on Swiftech h220-x

So....i just reach home n try mounting D15S onto my MB again.

This time round, i really screw everything and close the casing cover.
To my surprise, IT ACTUALLY FITS IN LOL! but only about 2-3cm of allowance from the tip of the cooler to the casing cover.

Well, erm...i not sure if this is a good news or a false alarm (haha!) but wish to seek opinion from u guys that is it ok for that small gap of allowance or not.

for me also about the same a few centimeter gap as well, but am using different case and cooler from yours. and i think should not have any problem. as i had tried open the side case and close it to test it, and there is not much difference at all.

i think d15s product page specs put wrongly as 160 instead of 165.
ur so lucky it fits!

Btw, for RAM, don't bother about Corsair LPX. Save your money and go for the Gskill DDR4-2400 valueram. I OC it to 3200 @ 1.35V on the Asus Gene board and oc 6700K to 4.7GHz 1.35V

can fit, but you may have to mount the 2nd fan higher up, if you are going for 2 fans.

Ah, i get wat u mean.
Well u see, im using the asus maximum viii impact n if i mount the cooler the way shown in the picture, it will hit onto the other component of the MB.
I have to turn the cooler 90deg so that i can mount onto the MB perfectly less the ram.
