May not need gaincity. There are people complaining that they charges very expensive and their work are just the same. There are also people complaining that gaincity's aircon installation by sub contractors have poor workmanship and leak gas after even one year.

I recommend you to get aircon companies recommended here or SgOzoneAircon.com to try to service your aircons. :s12:

Just tried ah yi as recommended by most.
Surprise is a not very old uncle
Late 30s?

His timing is flexible and match mine.
Find his workmanship like average lei. He don't use newspaper or plastic for below Aircon unit? So far I tried 4 company but all got use lei.. Like plastics to cover the unit straight below also got.
Their pricing confirm is one of the lowest among my found list which I can't really complain about it.

Nevertheless I still will contact him next servicing or next next

Not really fake but true. My experience exactly the same about 5-6yrs ago. Not sure whether its a trick but from my experience, here goes:
The young chap I requested for servicing and quote me $25 per unit. He came and saw my unit was terribly choked and dirty. So he offer for $40 each to take down unit for cleaning. He did and for 2.5hrs he did that, stripped clean off wall and bath the unit at bathroom. Gladly paid him $120.

I feel strange and do a search (since I took leave that day), major servicing company quoted $220-$240 to do take down washing per unit!.

Very soon, 3 months later, AC not cold and decided to call the young chap again, he came to check and diagnose - no more refrigerant. Only my mum around and paid him $400 for top up. I was bz at work. He came and do in 30mins.

3 months later, not cold again. Call young chap again for servicing again. Wanting the $40 per unit package, he said no because no need to. He came and go in 30mins also.

I feel strange how come I have to engage him so often after the 1st service.

Sooner than 3months later, again not cold. I decide to try another guy - old man suggested by my dad. Old guy said - I was conned because the gas pipping was loosen and refrigerant all gone. He plugged and show me the pressure. I cannot remember how much was the service and top but I feel I learning more from old guy.

He taught me how to choose AC, size of room to AC power, trunking, pipping, insulator.

back to servicing, after old man servicing, the ac was in good condition for about a year after the need to call in the old man again. He partner with his wife as co-worker and self boss of company.

Apology for long story - I never go back to the young chap again.

Think back - he is spoiling market for the servicing cost and get more juice out of you later. I believe he pocketed the cost from 2nd trip onwards because he nvr issue me receipt when I request for it. Only give me 1 receipt for 1st servicing.

wah u met a rouge man :(
Lucky the guy i shared wasnt like urs...mine is already 3 mths and still very cold at 26 deg...

when they pop by again to do electric for me last week i still ask them...how to make is not so cold at 26 deg..:o

PS: Do not PM mi for the aircon coy i used...
Pls used those intro by others..

Anyone here knows if there's repair service available for Honeywell portable air-con locally?

Previously bought from Courts 3 years back, but recently asked them and they told me go find myself :(

The unit is like suddenly cannot power on, not sure what's the issue. :(

To khroness,

Mostly likely the fan blower or fan cooling coil is choked.
Servicing should be able to settle your issue.

strip down the whole things will cost $120 to $150 ( 95 % clean )
need 1 to 1.5 hours for 1 unit.

while just spray chemical on the cooling coil surface $40 to $60 ( 20 % clean )
need 10 to 15 min for 1 unit.

Can ask for this simple detail while u find aircond tech...
Hope all bro and sis don't get cheat on chemical wash ( to many definition on this chemical things )

For aircon servicing, is it normal for them just to use the cloth to wipe down the rotating blower? I still see a lot of dust in-between the fins le

To Marco_surf,

Usually they use a brush to brush off the dirt or dismantle the whole blower to wash with water (more clean this way).

"while just spray chemical on the cooling coil surface $40 to $60 ( 20 % clean )

Bro, i feel this statement a little not correct.

My aircon guy did chemical wash can achieve 70-80% clean for $60 (depends on no. of units can be cheaper). I believe he spent 30-40 mins per unit as need to rinse the chemical with water.

if you mean 10-15min can finished job, i believe are those chemical spray cans, spray once and job done. Those chemical spray cans used can corrode aircon fancoil. Over the years, fancoil blades will be weak and break off one by one.

I use only specialised aircon chemicals, only must rinsed off with water and only from recommended aircon company.

hope this can help someone :s12:
