Do you know how to DIY yourself?

If so, after you ask for discount from PC Themes, you can always bring the list of parts go Tradepac, see they quote you how much.

do you guys always compare quoted prices from different shops before deciding? :s11:

I totally know nothing abt pc assembling so most probably I'm gonna need to pay for the assembly. Are pc themes and tradepac reliable? Is there anything that I need to take note when buying from them?

PC Themes are known for reliability and good service. Tradepac, on the other hand, is known for very cheap prices but not so good service. If you wish to buy from Tradepac, do not let them assemble your rig. Instead, bring your parts down to PC Care & Solutions, #02-32, SLS, and have Nigel assemble your rig for you for a fee.

How much does it cost for assembly at pc care and solutions?

Around $20-50.. Though, if u want, u can give more... Actually, he does not state the prices, and some B**t***s take it for granted and not pay him.

$20-50 is actually shop pricing.

Hi guys, my sister is also interested in assembling her own computer. Her budget is $1200 (cpu, monitor and os). She uses the computer mainly for work (Microsoft office), watching movies and normal surfing.

Some of her preferred choices:
Windows 8
A 21" monitor
A compact casing

Any recommendation in the parts that she should get?

NUC: Gigabyte Brix BXBT – 2807 (199)
RAM: Kingston DDR3 1600 4GB SODIMM (53)
SSD: CRUCIAL MX100 256GB (165)
OS: Windows 8.1 (120)
Monitor: Samsung S22D300 (188)

Total cost: $725

Buy at Laser, #05-58, and try to ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, get Laser to assemble for you for a fee.

1) The Gigabyte Brix is suitable for her needs as it is very small and the Intel Celeron N2807 is sufficient for office work, movies and surfing.

Budget 1.5k, including monitor, OS, keyboard and mouse.
Mainly use for playing the latest game, watching videos and surfing.

Pretty satisfied with the rig recommended by Roy and jian19 last year, so I thought I might use hwz for advice again. :D

1) Are you sure that it is OK to include prices from lazada.com after the Mastercard discount? Not everyone has a Mastercard.

2) I understand that Nvidia Maxwell GPUs are relatively power sipping, but isn't using a 450W PSU cutting the wattage headroom a bit too close, especially when considering that the PSU is a relatively cheap and of lower build quality, which may have an adverse effect on long term durability?

Hi all, similar to the qns posted above, I would like to build a rig and need parts recommendation from you guys. Same budget at 1.8k but I would like to have Windows 8 as my os. Need monitor, keyboard and mouse. I would also prefer to have a case that is not too big/bulky. Any suggestion?

Matx would be fine. But if there's a large difference in the grade of the parts for a larger case, then ignore the size of the case.

Games like gta, battlefield 4, fifa, pay day, left 4 dead etc, watching movies and normal surfing.

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-4460 + ASRock H81M-HDS @ $299
RAM: Crucial DDR3-1600 CL11 8GB @ $96
GPU: Zotac GTX 970 4GB @ $458* (Lazada Singapore)
SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB @ $143* (Lazada Singapore)
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB @ $68
PSU: Super Flower Golden Green HX 500W [80 Plus Gold] @ $88
CASE: Jonsbo C2 [Black] @ $69
At just 11.7 litres, makes it one of the smallest mATX chassis to date.
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 64-bit [OEM] @ $120
Make full sure you are comfortable with Windows 8.1 environment. If not, go for Windows 7.
DSP: Dell S2340L 23" LED [eIPS] @ $199^ (SITEX 2014)
In just a month's time.
KB: Cooler Master QuickFire Rapid-i [Mechanical] @ $158^ (SITEX 2014)
In just a month's time.
Choose your Cherry MX Switch. Suitability varies between person.

MS: Zowie Gear FK1 @ $119 (Xtreme Solution)
One of the best FPS mouse currently.

Total: $1817

Optional:
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit [OEM] @ $115

1) He never mention not having a MasterCard. It will be informative and appreciative to provide info to these great lobangs even if he really doesn't possess such card.

2) At practical max system load of ~300W, such PSU with 400W odd of available power on 12V rails already offer enough headroom to counter the wattage depreciation in the next few useful years to come. So far other than the presence of Taiwanese caps (as predominantly present in such tier PSUs), the overall build is pretty average and shouldn't pose any high risk durability concern.

A 450w PSU is enough to power the 970 with extra headroom of about 100w or so. Enough to hit efficiency rate, and also last for a few years of degrading.

Despite having 2 cores less on its Ivy Bridge-based Celeron 1037U than Silvermont-based Celeron N2930, it performs significantly faster than the latter at typical home usage, light threaded workload. Meanwhile, in fact saving more energy and time than Silvermont offerings despite its higher power draw as work completes in shorter time more than proportionate to the rate of energy drawn (i.e. power).
HDD: HGST Travelstar 7K1000 1TB @ $83 (Tradepac)
DSP: Dell S2240L 21.5" LED [eIPS] @ $189^ (SITEX 2014)
In just a month's time.

Total: $559

The bigger the better cinematic experience enjoyed

Hey guys. I would also like your suggestions on a build.

Budget : $1200

Uses : Latest games (i.e Far Cry 4, BF4, AC Unity, Arma 3) | Photoshop | Video recording and rendering and possibly still having a game open at the same time | Multitasking

No need for new monitor / kb / mouse

Thanks in advance ! :D
